I really wanted to go comfort Kori. But I understood that she needed her space. I was in the middle of getting ready for my lunch with Rayven when I got her text. I had to call and make sure she was okay. Deep down , I was low key excited that her and her man were through. But like she said, all she want is a friend right now.I pulled up to Rayvens house and texted her that I was outside. She came out the house looking fine as ever. Better then the first day I saw her. Her clothes hugged her body perfectly, her hair was curled and her skin looked smooth. I got out the car and gave her a hug. I walked her over to the passenger side and opened her door for her.
On our date we talked and got to know each other a little bit. Shes 23, has a son and just graduated from college. Im not going to lie, my attraction to her is off the meter. But its something about her that feels like its missing. We went to see a movie and out to eat. After I took her home, hoping Id see her again.
I decided to drive to work and get some more paperwork done and turned into the city. I pulled up to the club around 5 and saw it was a easy evening. Its Wednesday so its slow. I went in the office and finished my paper work. I remember I had to find someone to cover the bar tonight. I called another worker named Jewel and told her to come in tonight. After I hung up I saw it was almost 8. I kept thinking about Kori. I decided to call her.
Kori- Hello.
Dallas- Damn did I wake you?
Kori- Yes. But its cool. I need to get up anyways. Wass up?
Dallas- I was just checking in with you. Making sure your okay.
Kori- Im as good as ill be right now.
Dallas-I was wondering tho. If I can come keep you company. Make sure your okay.
Kori-You told me that same line in high school and it wasn't to check on me.
She laughed and I couldn't help but laugh too. Memories flooded my head as I talked to her.
Dallas- Look I promise its no funny business. Just to be a friend. For real.
Kori-Mmmmmm..... okay.
Dallas- Alr. Send me the address and I'll be on the way.
We hung up and I waited for her text. My phone finally dinged with her address. I opened it in maps and saw where it was. I grabbed my coat and keys and headed over. On the way over I thought about what could of been between us. Given my past, I dont really blame her for not wanting to get with me. Ive had almost every female in high school. Some of them more then once. But , Im a firm believer in at least trying anything.
Her grandmothers house isnt far from my house. I called her to tell her to open the door. Walking up to her steps I had a memory of seeing her one day out freshman years in high school. She was sitting on the porch talking on the phone. Her hair was curly then. I loved curly hair on her. I was riding bikes with my boys. I couldn't help but stare at her. I was looking so hard, I didnt see the big hole in the ground and flipped off my bike. Once I got off the ground I looked up and saw her looking at me. I felt embarrassed, I just picked up my bike and rode off fast not even realizing my arm was broken.
I shook my head at the memory. She opened the door as I got to the top step. She looked way more beautiful in a relax state. She had on a over sized Ohio State crew neck, black leggings and her hair in a ponytail. I walked in and gave her a hug. I closes the door behind me.
Dallas- You Okay?
Kori- Have you ever had to mourn a death and deal with a heartbreak at the same time?
