~*~ 5 Years Ago ~*~She bounced her leg up and down as she tapped her pen on the table. She was irritated. She stared at the clock. She had a hour left. She took a deep breath and continued writing. She heard him laugh at her. She looked up at him with hatred in her eyes. She couldn't believe the predicament that he put her in. It was all his fault.
In her whole 12 years of school she never once got in the slightest of trouble. Now its her last semester of her senior year in high school and she's in detention. Her perfect record had a blemish on it now and it was all because of him.
Dallas Jordan.
She never cared for him in the 4 years she's known of him. He was the star quarterback and the lead point guard. He had an ego out of this world and she hated it. But on the contrary, Dallas thought differently of Kori Kanle.
She was beautiful to him and every other boy in this school. But she was so focused on books that she never paid attention to anyone. Not even him. Which made him want her more. He can have any girl in this school, which he almost had them all. But Kori wasn't going for it. He tried a few times to get at her but she wasn't talking it. So he just moved on from her. He wasn't going to keep trying for her when he had a whole school of girls who wanted him. Even though deep down he still wanted her.
The room was quiet for 20 minutes until the teacher got up with his empty cup of coffee and made an announcement to them.
Mr. Terry- Look, I'm going to get a cup of coffee. Il be back. No talking. He turned and walked out of the library while mumbling under his breath.
Mr. Terry- Can't believe im spending my god damn Friday watching two kids.
The room fell silent. Kori did her homework and sat silently. Dallas couldn't help but use this time as an advantage.
Dallas-So Kori, Wass up?
She looked at him with her face twisted.
Kori-Stop talking to me.
Dallas-Damn its like that ma? I didn't do anything to you.
Kori-Your the reason Im in here.
Dallas-That aint my fault. I just wanted to make sure I got my answers right.
Kori-So you stole my homework and test and lied telling them I told you to. Now I got zeros and im in detention.
Dallas-Them lil zeros aint ganna hurt you and this detention ain't ganna do nothing to you.
Kori-Oh yeah so what about you? Didn't you need those for your scholarship and graduation.
Dallas-I ain't worried. Ill do a lil make up work, run some extra drills with coach. I'll be good. Why? You worried about me?She quickly looked from him down to her work. She wasn't going to admit to him she had a crush on him. She barely could admit it to herself. He was very attractive with his smooth almond skin, plump lips, tall frame and built body. She could see why all the girls wanted him. For his looks and his promising future. But he was a playboy. None of his relationships lasted longer then a month. Not to mention all the girls he slept with between those relationships. She refused to even try to put herself on his list of many many conquests.
Dallas-Ohhh. So you do like me. You've been paying attention to me?
She kept quiet and continued her homework. Dallas stood up and went to go sit next to her. He turned to face her but she would not look at him.
Dallas-You know you've always been beautiful to me. When you look at me I don't see dollar signs in your eyes like these other girls. Your body is banging, your smart. Wifey material.
He touched her face and turned her head to look at him.
Kori-How many of the girls have you told that to?
He smiled at her and before he could reply, the teacher came in.
Mr. Terry- Mr. Jordan, I said no talking. Get back to your seat and stay quiet.
Dallas- No problem Mr. Terry.Dallas flashed his smile back at Kori as he returned to his seat. Kori looked back down and finished her homework. She couldn't believe how her stomach was in butterflies at the feel of his touch. She bite her bottom lip. She had to get him off her mind. She looked at the clock and realized she had 20 minutes left. She distracted herself by writing in her journal since she was finished with all her homework.
They sat there quietly until it was time to go. When the teacher announced detention was over, Kori rushed as fast as she could out of there; dropping her journal in the process in the hallway.
Dallas- Yo ma wait up!
Dallas jogged up to her with her journal in hand. He stopped in front of her causing her to stop. He handed her the journal.
Dallas- You dropped this ma.
Kori- Thanks. She grabbed her journal and tried to walk around him but he wouldn't move out the way.
Dallas- You were on the track team right?
Kori-Yeah why?
Dallas-You walk fast. I had to jog to catch up to you.
Kori- Well its a good thing we weren't running on the field. I would of dusted you.He smiled and laugh at her joke causing her to smile a little.
Dallas-Oh yeah? Maybe we can find out one day.
Mr. Terry- School hours are over. You need to leave the premises. They looked at Mr. Terry and turned back to each other.
Dallas-Alright Terry. We're going.
He looked down at Kori's short frame and studied her. Her round eyes, her soft looking lips, her bodies natural curves and her toned legs. He touched her face and lifted her chin up to look at him.
Dallas- One day, I'm going to get you to admit that you want me; like I admit that I want you.
Kori bit her lips and just looked at him. She felt herself about to give in and say she wanted him but she heard Mr. Terry clear his throat. She shook her head and finally walked past him and leaving out the school. On her walk home she thought about what he said. She wondered did he really want her. She quickly shook it out her head. Guys like him only want the panties. She wasn't going to be fooled my his smooth talk and pretty face. But something inside of her told her it was some truth in what he said to her.
Dallas thought about Kori as he rode with his best friend Keith. He had to admit to himself he really wanted Kori. There was something about her that pulled him towards her. But she kept turning him down. He couldn't blame her given his reputation. But he believed she should at least try. He just shook his head and chopped up the L. He had plenty of other girls so why waste time on her. But there was still something in him telling him to not give up.
Two hearts deny the love from each other. As they go their separate ways, they can't help but to think what if? But, they will never know because of their stubborn ways.
