『third person's point of view』

"Does she love you the way I can?"

The young female sighed as she shifted her position on her seat. She let her fingertips trace random and imaginary shapes and lines on the surface of her desk despite the existence of the piled-up textbooks nearby. She could already hear her mother scolding her to sort out her priorities.

But she didn't want to spend more time on any of them since she already knew what the test would include. She had already read the same textbooks nearly three times, so she knew it well even if she only scanned it in her last reading session.

She sighed again while stretching her arms for a few seconds before staring at her window, which was now fogged up and wholly covered with rainwater. Nonetheless, she could still see the house across theirs.

Without realizing it, she stared at the window where she would usually see him quickly finishing his homework and studies right after school before hurrying to the kitchen to practice cooking.

She snapped out of her daze and opened one of her textbooks, trying to block out the memories from the past while hoping that the soft pitter-patter of the rain would drown them out.

She started to mentally list all the things she was supposed to do and what she could do before crossing all of them out. She has already done all of them, and it would be tiring if she did them again.

She looked around, hoping to see something she could do that she hadn't thought about before. When she looked to her side and saw that thing that she swore never to touch again after Eishi left for Tōtsuki Culinary Academy. Her eyes started to resemble her window's current state.

"I could've been doing that if only..." she trailed off before standing up. She went to her bed and lay down before grabbing her cell phone and seeing that there were no new messages or calls.

"It's been a week already..." she mumbled while her fingers pressed buttons that brought her to the screen wherein she should be composing a message for the person she named "Crystal Gentleman."

["How are you?"]

Delete.

["It's been a while."]

Delete.

["Would it be alright if I visit you next week?"]

Hesitantly, she deleted that message before she turned off the phone. She placed an arm over her forehead before letting out a sigh again.

"When did I get so hesitant when it's related to Eishi?"
