The day after the presentation, Lucas kept calling and texting me saying he didn’t mean to do what he did that night. I haven’t answered his calls or his texts yet, I know he was just drunk but it’s not like I can just forgive him right away.
Of course, I already told Heather about what he did but I haven't told my mom because she'll probably freak out.
Heather asked me to go to the mall with her this afternoon, she said she's gonna buy me a gift for my birthday tomorrow. I just hope tomorrow would be fun because the past week has been exhausting for all of us.
I got a few more hours before Heather drops by to pick me up, I was alone in our house once again because mom's at work until eight o'clock, and I got nothing to do.
So, I decided to go see what Candace is doing and hang out with her for a while. She does nothing but make me laugh and smile.
As I walked outside towards their house, I found Candace playing alone on their front porch.
"Hi! Candace," I greeted, making her turn to me.
"Hi Daphne!" she replied, running towards me to give me a hug. What a sweet kid.
I pulled back to look at her. "Why are you playing alone? Is your mom home?"
"No," she frowned. "Mommy's at work, but brother is inside cooking lunch."
"Wanna go play with me at our house? I can show you my old toys."
Her eyes instantly glistened and her frown turned into a grin. "Really?"
"Yes," I chuckled.
"Okay. I'm gonna tell brother first," she said as she ran back inside the house and ask for her brother's permission.
I haven't met her brother yet. Oh well, I guess I could meet him tomorrow at my party.
Candace came back outside skipping happily with a grin on her face.
"I'm guessing your brother said yes?" I asked, smiling at the little girl who was holding onto my hand.
"Yup." she replied, emphasizing the 'p' sound.
We went upstairs to the storage room, where mom stored all my toys safely. I first showed her my Barbie dolls; I used to play with it when I was five. Next, I showed her my old, pink doll house. I used to play on it until I was ten. The doll house has a mini living room, bedroom, and a kitchen. Mom and I used to pretend cooking on that mini kitchen room. It was a lot of fun even though I didn't have anyone to play with but my mom.
Candace's reaction was so adorable. Her eyes widened when I showed her my other toys and her mouth formed an 'O' in amazement.
Lastly, I showed her my room. My room was all pink and girly, so I'm pretty sure she'll love it too.
Candace ran straight to my bed and jumped up and down.
I giggled when I remembered I used to do that too when I was her age. "Be careful, Candace,"
"Your room is pretty!" she said.
"Let me guess... pink is your favorite color too?"
"Yeah!" she replied, laughing.
Soon enough, play time was over. I sent Candace back to their house; minutes after that Heather came to pick me up.
When I got in and sat beside her, she was flipping through the radio stations but suddenly stopped on 102.7 KIIS FM.
She Looks So Perfect started blasting through her sound system. I gasped in excitement. "Oh, my gosh! I love this song!" I said, turning up the volume while singing the song.
