The next morning I woke up with my phone vibrating on the glass plate of my bedside table, making the water in my cup wave softly. A groan left my lips and I stretched out my limbs to feel all the little cracks and pulls relaxing my body. My hand lazily reached for my phone as I was still struggling to keep my eyes open. Once succeeding in grabbing my phone and successfully bringing it over to the bed, I made an effort to sit upright against my pillows before letting my hands run over my face and into my browning hair. I really needed to re-do my hair, but I keep stalling it.
I unlocked my phone and opened the message, seeing it was the only notification I had gotten over night. I didn't realise it was from Alex until after I read the text.
Good morning, Niall. Care to go for lunch today? I'm free between 12.15-13.45. See you then?
It read.
Alex and I had swapped phone numbers, seeing he claimed that he would contact me for 'business' once he knew more about what my position would include exactly. Last week, when we specifically met for the interview, he couldn't tell me the exact things I needed to know and do for the job offer, so he told me he would have to come back to me for the rest of the information. And although it did take him a week, it still surprised me he texted me rather than sending a professional email.
Ignoring the thought, I clicked on the small text bar and quickly typed my respond.
Hey Alex, I would love to. Where do we meet?
I decided to keep it short, not wanting to come over as too enthusiastic or anything.
Once that was taken care off, I got out my bed and made my way into the bathroom. I turned on the faucet and waited till the water had a nice temperature before stepping in and under the stream of warm water. I could feel my whole body relaxing even more and the thought of staying under the shower forever fogged my mind for a bit, before leaving with a sigh coming out of my mouth.
The shower didn't take long, seeing I knew I had only so many hours to get ready and look presentable to go out. After all, I was meeting up with a handsome businessman; looking presentable is a must.
After I got out of the shower and dried off, I put on some rather tight fitting boxer shorts and pulled a white shirt over my head to at least cover up a bit of myself, ready to face the cold air of the kitchen. I don't know what it is in this house, but it's always rather chilly inside the kitchen, compared to the living room and bedrooms.
I say bedrooms, but believe me, it's more one bedroom and a tiny bit of space left next to the bathroom where just a twin-sized bed fitted in and nothing else.
Long forgotten about my baby brother staying for the week, I almost jumped with fright as I saw a roll of blankets move on the couch once I descended the stairs. He was still feeling under the weather and the doctor had concluded that he had a fever.
A soft breath left past my lips as I made my way into the kitchen, ready to fix Nate some quick breakfast and a nice coffee for myself.
The clock on the wall read 5.35, but the arrows didn't seem to move anymore, indicating that the battery must have died during the night. I grabbed my phone again and looked at the time. 9.22 am. I don't think I have ever woken up this early after a shift at both the bar and the club.
Normally I would wake up around noon, sometimes a little before, sometimes a little after, but never has it been earlier than 11am. Though, I wasn't complaining, seeing I needed the little bit of extra time to get ready and look my charming self.
