"So, you probably wonder why I asked you to lunch, am I right?"

Alex took me to this small and adorable French restaurant a little out of town. It was incredibly cozy and definitely a place I would revisit once I had the time. We had both ordered a croissant and some tomato soup, seeing Alex suggested I'd try it. He indeed was right, it was phenomenal and I was glad he took me there. I've always loved trying out new things.

I took another bite of my croissant before I nodded my head. The curiosity in me obviously wanted to know the exact reason for our lunch date.

"Well, as you know, I would like for you to become a member of our company as being my assistant," he started, "but I'm not sure if you really understand what that entitles." Alex placed his hands in front of him as he looked at me, his dominant, professional attitude back - like he was with Jason.

It wasn't that I didn't know what being the assistant in a company like theirs meant, but it was more inexperience on that part that held me back a little. I went to university for a very small time. I studied criminal justice there, in the idea of becoming a crime investigator, but with Nate and with me leaving home, I didn't have another choice but to quit studying. Therefore, I was unable to get the job I absolutely dreamt of. It all didn't matter in the end, seeing I still got a paying job and some extra money whenever I worked at the strip club. Though, the idea of actually working for my dream job, still kind of hurts when compared to reality.

"Well, it's not that I don't understand what my tasks would include, it's just... Alex, I can let my microwave crash by just looking at it. I'm not good with technology, or computers or electronics in general. I don't want to cause any trouble in your company."

That wasn't a lie. I had managed in my life to let my microwave crash because I was smart enough to put a raw egg in it. Just to clarify what happens to eggs when they're put in the microwave raw, it will explode and if you're unlucky, like me, your microwave will be defect and will need a replacement. Seriously, don't put raw eggs in your microwave if you're planning on still using it.

Alex gave me a fond smile and placed his head onto his folded hands in front of him. "Do tell, how did you manage to let your microwave crash?"

A chuckle passed my lips and I shook my head. "It's called stupidity. That's how you manage to do that."

The man just smiled and let the conversation leave us as he changed topics. "Alright, but Niall, if you want the job, I can easily get you someone to teach you how to work with computers and stuff. I could do it in my free time, too, but then it'll take ages for you to learn everything. My work goes beyond the working hours sometimes. But like I said, if it's something you want, I can make it happen. Consider us friends now."

It was hard fighting back the smile that wanted to gracefully be seated on my lips. He was so nice and sweet, I had a hard time believing it was real. I was used to people walking over me – or more so, trying to. People around these places weren't nice to you for no reason. There was always a reason. But with Alex, I wasn't sure if there even was a reason.

I was at loss for words. Alex must have been the most genuinely nice person on earth. "I- don't know what to say, really. Thank you so much."

Alex smiled, his pearly white teeth showing beautifully as he did so. "Don't thank me yet, Niall. Besides, I don't even know if you want to work for me. I could always ask my brother to help you out during his office hours. He usually just plays around on his laptop anyways, so I could ask him to give you some advice. Just bring your own laptop and I'll fix it."
