"But mom, I don't wanna go to school today," Scorch whined annoyingly.
"Sorry, you have to," Scorch's mother said. "Remember, your best friend Surge will be there."
"Fine, I'll go," Scorch said moodily. He let out some fire from his mouth in anger as he got his backpack ready. His backpack was a mix of red and orange with a dark red fireball on it. Scorch put his lunch that matched the pattern and colors of his backpack, in the back pocket along with a red pencil box that matched his backpack, and supplies. He took pride in the fact that All of his supplies matched his scarlet red feathers. He flew out of his nest near the volcano of fire island. Scorch flew over Scarlet Bay and out to the Inner sea. He knew that if he were to look right he could see Plant Island's lush jungles or to his right the barren plains leading to the jagged mountains of Earth Island. Should he turn back he could see his own Fire Island with the smoke of the volcano directly leading to the flying cities of air and lightning islands. Eventually he reached the Phoenix Academy of Council Island. It had a giant banner that was light purple. It said WELCOME TO PHOENIX ACADEMY in black
Scorch looked around for his best friend Surge. He was nowhere to be found until a bright yellow streak flew super fast towards Scorch.
"Surge, don't scare me like that!," said Scorch.
"Okay," said Surge. They flew into the front gates while talking nonstop about what they were going to do at lunch and playtime. When they went in they had to go to separate classes. The school classes were divided by tribe. Scorch went to Mrs. Smolder's class and Surge went to Mr. Bolt's class.
First, in Mrs. Smolder's class, they did some history.
"Turn to page 48. Now read along as I speak. Many eons ago the phoenix tribes couldn't work together. At the slightest offense wars started. The worst conflict shattered the continent of the phoenixes. To this day no one knows what it was called. The fighting was so bad, eventually the water phoenixes suffered so much they retreated. They enlisted the neutral magic phoenixes help to sink their island and form a peaceful isolated community. One after another, tribes were forced to abandon the war. Soon just the air phoenixes and the lightning phoenixes were left fighting. The magic phoenixes intervened and sent the warring tribes to floating cities in the air where their fighting could only harm themselves.
"While the rest of the tribes learned to cooperate in peace, the airborne phoenixes continued to fight. However the peace would not last. Dragons from a far off continent grew greedy and launched an invasion on the Phoenix Isles. They were powerful with the elements at their command as well. The phoenixes couldn't gain an advantage in any way. They were soon forced to send delegates to the water, air and lightning phoenixes in hopes of reinforcements. The tribes were eventually swayed after being offered seats on the phoenix council. The tide turned... for a time. The magic phoenixes were promised access to the hoards of gold on their continent and were overcome by greed. They betrayed the phoenixes and the dragons started gaining power in the war. The phoenixes lost battle after battle until a magic phoenix named Spellcaster joined the phoenixes. He was one of the most skilled magic users and turned the tide in the war yet again. His recent death was tragic," said Mrs. Smolder.Meanwhile, in Mr. Bolt's class, they had just learned the same thing. After both classes did math but in different rooms still.
"Today we will be focusing on addition. So what is 2&2?" Mr. Bolt said.
"It's 4!" yelled a young electric phoenix. Mr. Bolt kept on asking questions and other students. Surge decided to sleep. He slept until he heard a loud RING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was very excited because he could play with Scorch.
The two young phoenixes met each other at the lunch tables. Scorch had a few beetles, 3 caterpillars and a small box of grapes. Surge had some strawberries, 9 worms, and a ladybug. When they were done with lunch they played a game of freeze tag with some other phoenixes.
