Chapter 2

The next day Scorch, Manta, Frost, Crystal, Blade, and Vine met up at the front gates of Phoenix academy.

"Where's Surge?" Scorch asked.

"I don't know. How about since fire isle is right under electric isle Scorch, you go and get Surge," said Manta.

"No, somebody's obviously trying to get rid of us one by one so I don't exactly want to get captured," said Scorch.

"Enough with the capture stuff, Surge is probably just having a sleepover with Storm since there isle's are so close," Frost pointed out.

"Yeah, Scorch," Blade agreed.

"Fine I guess I'll go there after school too," Scorch sighed. At lunch Scorch just remembered that if Surge was at a sleepover he would be able to come to school.

"If Surge was at a sleepover he would still be able to come to school," Scorch pointed out.

"Then maybe when he went to Storm's house he got sick if Storm was sick," Frost said.

"Or maybe he went on vay-cay," said Blade.

"Fine I'll go," Scorch said moodily.

"How about I go, because Scorch doesn't want to," Vine said.

"Are you sure, it sounds kind of risky?" Manta asked. Scorch's eyes started to have fire blazing in them. He charged at Manta. Manta quickly moved out of the way.

"Sorry, I was just a little mad," Scorch said. He walked away angrily.

"That was weird," Manta said. "I was just joking around." after school, Vine quickly flew to Surge's nest. She looked around. Surge was nowhere to be found, and neither were his family. So she went to Storm's nest. He and Surge were there. A purple light flashed and someone grabbed Vine.

"You, why?" Vine asked the phoenix in shock. Then she was knocked out. When she woke up she was in a chair next to Surge. She saw that Storm was next to Surge.

When I was knocked out I forgot who did this to me. I wonder who would do this to us? Scorch was right! Somebody's taking us out one by one! Vine thought. Duct tape was around her beak and she was strapped to a chair. Suddenly a very bright light turned on. Vine just realized she was gonna be interrogated. The light was so bright that she couldn't tell who was interrogating her. The phoenix's voice was deep.

"Where do your friends live?" he asked. Vine looked at him with a "isn't it obvious" face. He ripped of the duct tape around Vine's beak.

"OW! Whatever, I guess I can show you where my friends live," Vine said while making vines come from the ground and take off her straps.

"You're not gonna like, do the whole 'kill me instead' thing?" The phoenix asked.

"Nah, it's too much work, and I'm tired," Vine said while shrugging her shoulders.

"So, where does Scorch live?" The strange phoenix asked.

"You know earth island?" Vine asked.

"Yes," the phoenix said hesitantly.

"DON'T go there," Vine said.

"I kind of figured out that he didn't live on earth island," the phoenix said.

"Then you know water-" Vine started.

"I KNOW HE LIVES ON FIRE ISLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" the phoenix yelled.

"Sheesh chill," Vine said. "Anyway, his nest is next to the volcano."

"So, here's the plan: I knock you out and, you stay," the phoenix said.
