The young phoenixes were taken into the amphitheatre. The eight phoenixes were knocked out. They laid on the ground as if they were dead.

"Master here are the fletchings," the fast phoenix said.

"Good, you'll get your reward in three hours," a deep voice said. He tied the little phoenixes to chairs. The phoenix patiently waited until the young phoenixes woke up.

After two and a half hours the phoenixes woke up. The phoenix quickly put on a dark cloak so the phoenixes couldn't see who he was.

"Mom, can I have some breakfast," Scorch said groggily. The phoenix whacked Scorch with his wing. "Ow, mom I'll wait, don't hit me!"

Silence, fool," The phoenix said while whacking Manta this time.

"Hey, I'm awake so why are you hitting me?" Manta asked.

"Because I feel like it," the phoenix answered.

"When I get out of this, you're really gonna get it. Oh wait, you'll probably run away because you're too scared to even show yourself," Manta said. The phoenix shot a giant yellow blast of energy. Manta was knocked out.

"I like him better when he's knocked out," the phoenix said to himself.

"Scorch set his feathers on fire and started melting the rope that tied him to the chair that he was stuck perched on. The mysterious phoenix quickly took out a bucket of water he had behind him. He poured it on Scorch. Scorch quickly turned back to normal and stopped melting the ropes.

"Don't try to escape," the phoenix said.

"I guess you're gonna knock us all out now," Manta said while waking up.

"No, just you," the phoenix said happily. He shot him with another yellow blast of energy at Manta. Suddenly a rock shield appeared in front of him.

"Thanks Crystal," Manta said relieved.

"That wasn't me though," Crystal said.

"Whatever," Surge said.

"Let's work on knocking this guy out," Manta said.

"On it," Blade said. He had already cut the rope that had been stuck him to the seat. Blade cut all the other phoenixes free. The phoenixes all shot an elemental blast. They combined into one giant golden beam.

The mysterious phoenix quickly shot a yellow blast. The two blasts hit and became a giant explosion. All the phoenixes were blasted away. The mysterious phoenix was blasted west and the young ones east.

As the young phoenixes flew through the air, knocked out, something caught them and brought them down to rest in a small nest. When the phoenixes woke up, they were all very dizzy.

"What happened?" Scorch asked.

"All I remember is that we did that thing where we combine our powers," Manta said groggily.

"Where are we?" Vine asked.

"I don't know," Surge replied. They realized that they were back in the ampitheatr. Magic phoenixes were surrounding them.

"How can there be so many phoenixes?" Frost asked.

"I thought the original council almost made them extinct," Vine wondered out loud. Scorch and Manta both saw a ripple go through most of the phoenixes. As the ripple went through a group of dark purple phoenixes Scorch saw pitch black feathers. Manta looked at group of violet phoenixes. As the ripple passed through them he saw whitish-yellowish feathers.

Scorch looked at another group of phoenixes. He saw light green feathers as the ripple went through the group. Manta looked at another group of phoenixes. As the ripple went through them he saw dark blue feathers.
