The three kids raced to a nearby alley, because according to Bill and Eddie, a pharmacy was nearby. They stopped by some boards that just happened to be sitting there. This way, the new kid wouldn't have to sit of the floor, his wound was bad enough already.
"R-R-Richie, stay here." Bill forced out, motioning for the rest to follow.
"I'm glad I got to meet you before you died." Sam heard behind her, making her chuckle slightly at how Richie actually thinks that was the right thing to say.
Once they reached the pharmacy, the four of them stock piled anything they could find. Well- mostly Eddie. All Sam held was a box of cotton balls.
"Can we afford all of this?" Sam broke the frantic silence, motioning with her free hand to Eddie's clutter of supplies.
Stan pulled out a few dollars. "This is all we have."
"Are you kidding me?" Eddie asked, exasperated. Holding a defeated face.
"D-D-Don't you have an account h-here?" Bill asked, turning to Eddie.
Eddie looked at him like he was crazy before responding "If my mom found out we bought all of this stuff, I'll be spending the whole rest of the week in the emergency room getting x-rayed."
"Well, then maybe we could just get a few things, it should work right?" Sam tried, only causing Eddie to gawk at her in a 'no Samantha we need it all' sort of way. She closed her eyes, rubbing the bridge of her nose in frustration. She opened them again at a weird sound.
Sam cocked an eyebrow when she saw a girl she recognized as Beverly Marsh. She only knew who she was because in third grade, it took Bill ages to shutup about their kiss. They stood in an awkward silence, just staring at the other before Bill broke it.
"Y-Y-You okay?"
"I'm fine... What's wrong with you?" She asked slowly.
"None of your business." Stan cut in. Sam slapped him in shoulder.
"Don't be rude Stanley." She hissed.
"There's a kid outside who looks like someone killed him." Eddie choked out.
"We need some s-s-supplies, but w-we don't have enough money."
Beverly looked down before looking back up with a more confident expression. She didn't explain herself, instead she just walked by the four. The boys looked confused, but Sam knew what she was doing, flirting. They waited it out, the boys would've missed their opening if it hadn't been for Sam basically shoving the from their spot.
The four ran back to where the new kid and Richie were. Richie smiled when he made eye contact with Sam.
"Hey Babe."
"Shutup Tozier."
Richie turned toward Eddie who had already gotten to the kid. He then began to argue with him about how he was doing it wrong. Sam just rolled her eyes. When she saw Bill walking away, she took her chance to do the same. She can go without hearing more of their useless bickering.
As she was catching up with Bill, she saw him stop in his tracks, looking at something with sparkling eyes. Almost like if he saw a ghost but liked it. She caught up with him and tried to see what he was seeing. When she did, she smiled, elbowing him teasingly. He slapped her hand a few times, not wanting Beverly to get any 'hints'.
"U-Uh, h-here." Bill stuttered, pulling out the same money that Stan had brandished earlier, trying to hand it to her.
"Even Steven." She winked, holding up a pack of cigarettes she managed to grab. The twinkle in her eyes vanished when she turned slightly, seeing the 'kid' they had mentioned earlier. "Ben from Soc?" She walked over to Ben. "Are you okay? That looks like it hurts..." She said, concern clearly laced in her voice.
"Oh-uh-yeah, I'm okay. I just... fell."
"Yeah, right into Henry Bowers." Richie scoffed. Sam slapped his back.
"Shutup Tozier!" She hissed at him.
"You sure they got the right, stuff, to fix you up?" Beverly said with a smile and a subtle wink. No shock in the fact that it made Ben blush more colors than thought possible.
"W-W-We'll take care of him. T-Thanks again B-Beverly." Bill smiled. She smiled back.
"Sure, maybe I'll... See ya around." She said sheepishly. Yet before she could leave, Bill continued.
"Y-Yeah w-w-we were thinking about going to the q-q-quarry tomorrow... if, if y-you wanted to come." Bill said, getting quiet near the end.
"Good to know... Thanks." She said with a smile.
"Bye Beverly." Sam said, waving to her slightly, earning a smile and a small wave back.
After Beverly turned the corner, Stan looked at Richie with poison in his eyes. "Nice going bringing up Bowers in front of her!" He hissed.
"Yeah dude you heard what she did!"
"...What did she do?"
"More like who did she do. From what I hear, the list is longer than my wang!" He chuckled.
"Richie for the love of God just shut up." Sam groaned, putting her face in her hands.
"T-They're j-just rumors." Bill said.
"Yeah, I know for a fact none of you want to be known for what people say about us, and neither do I. So just stop being such judgmental idiots all of the time! If we believe what Greta Keen and Henry Bowers say about Bev, than people have every right to believe that Eddie was raped by his mom. Or that Richie is gay, or that Bill killed his brother! So just stop!" Sam said, louder than she intended.
"Sam I-" Richie started.
"Not now Richie. Just- not right now." She groaned, walking away. The only reason Sam got so upset is because she wasn't shy to rumors going around about her either. Seeing such hate in people she loved so much, just set her off the edge.
She just needed some air.
