Hello everyone! Sorry it took me so long to post this, I'm the kind of person that gets writers'-block easily. Lol. Well, enjoy! :)
The next few days were horrible for Albus. He was often bullied, teased by the other students--Gryffindors and Slytherins alike. Slytherins teased him for being such a kind person, and Gryffindors made snide remarks about how he should be in Gryffindor and the fact that he wasn't meant he wasn't a true Potter. Sometimes he felt like the only friends he had were Scorpius and Rose.
And just when he thought things couldn't get worse, he still hadn't heard from his parents since he had wrote them on the first night at Hogwarts.
Scorpius noticed this at breakfast on Friday morning. "What's wrong, Albus?"
Albus sighed. "I don't know. I guess I just expected this to be a lot better. New friends, fun times. But instead, it's been horrible. And to top it all off, my own parents haven't even replied to my letter I sent days ago!"
"I'm real sorry, Al. I bet things'll get better, promise! And about your parents, maybe they're just busy. You know, haven't had time to write." Scorpius pressed on.
"Yeah. Maybe." Albus replied. He could very well be right, but about school looking up, he knew his best friend was just giving him empty promises to make him feel better.
They ate in silence for a while, alone. A few moments after they had finished, Rose came up to the table and sat beside them.
"Hey, Rose." Albus greeted her.
"Hello Rose." Scorpius smiled.
"Hello Albus, Scorpius." Rose smiled at them both.
Rose started the conversation. "Are you alright, Albus? There's been a lot of remarks in the common room. I keep telling everyone how just because you were in Slytherin, doesn't mean you can't be a great wizard. I told them how you have a kind heart. They just scoffed and walked away. Apparently, no one has told them about Severus Snape."
"What has he got to do with this? Wasn't he a headmaster here once?" Scorpius inquired.
"Yes, and a potions master. He was also an incredibly brave man who played double-agent for Dumbledore. He was in love with Albus's grandmother, Lily, and Severus switched sides and joined the Order of the Phoenix when he realized Voldemort was going to kill Harry Potter and his parents, James and Lily Potter. Dumbledore tried to hide them as well as he could, but Voldemort eventually found them and murdered Harry's parents, but destroying his body into the process while Harry survived. So after all this was done, Severus promised Dumbledoredore to help protect Harry out of his love for Harry's mother and so her death would not be in vain. I think he's one of the bravest men who's ever lived." Rose explained.
Scorpius thought for a moment. "And he was a Slytherin?" he asked quietly.
"Yes. He's the reason I chose Slytherin over Gryffindor." Albus replied.
"Well then, I'm proud to be a Slytherin. He sounded like a great man." Scorpius said proudly.
"He was. Or so my dad tells me."
At this moment, the post owls came though the windows. Albus looked up eagerly and caught sight of his owl, Meeko.
" Meeko! They've finally written!" he exclaimed.
Albus patted his owl and eagerly unrolled the parchment that was attached to his leg. He began to read.
Dear Albus,
We're so sorry that we haven't gotten the chance to write. We've been so busy with work lately. We hope you can forgive us.
We are so, so happy to hear that you've been placed in Slytherin! We understand, and we want you to kow that we are exceptionally proud of you. You will do great things there, and like they say: Slytherin will help you on your way to greatness.
Tell Rose that we're all proud of her as well, especially Uncle Ron and Aunt Hermione.
About your friend Scorpius, we're happy to hear that you've made a friend. And we hope that whatever was part of our past, remains only a part of our past.
As for that Damon Cade, he sounds awful. Just be careful of him. And no, we haven't heard anything suspicious of the sort. I'll be sure to suggest it to the Ministry.
I hope all is going well. Have you heard anything yet about Quidditch try outs? You should definitely consider it; you're great on a broom, and no, I'm not just saying that. You cold be a great player just like your old man. Ha-ha!
If anyone is trying to bring you down, just reply that you're following the footsteps of a great man. Don't regret your choice Albus; be proud to be a Slytherin.
Love,
Dad & Mum
Albus smiled. Maybe Scorpius was right; maybe things would get better. The letter left him in a cheerful mood as he and his friends headed off to the final day of the week's classes. He held his head high. No one was oing to bring his mood down. Not today.
