Hello again everyone! Don't forget to spread the word about this, and comment, vote, whatever! It means a lot! :)

The next week continued without much event. Classes resumed after the weekend, and things seemed to start looking up for Albus, just like Harry had said. Slowly, the comments and sneers aimed at Albus began to subside, and he began making friends in Slytherin. One particular student named Marcus Styx was becoming good friends with Albus and Scorpius. His father, Adam, was an auror at the Ministry and knew Harry well.

On Wednesday morning, Madam Hooch announced that Quidditch tryouts would be held that coming Saturday. Albus was giddy at the possibility of him getting the spot of Seeker on the Slytherin team.

Scorpius impatiently snapped his fingers in Albus's face, waking him from his daydream. He came into focus. "What?"

"I said, are you going to try out? I mean, I know first years aren't exactly the first ones to get a spot, but it's worth a shot. Your dad did get a spot in his first year, after all." He recalled.

"I think I'm definitely going to try out. I know I'm only eleven, but I'm gonna give it my all. Besides, I really want a broom."

"I heard the team's getting the new LightningStriker3000." Scorpius revealed.

"Wicked! Now I really, really want a spot."

Unfortunately, a couple of 4th year Slytherins overheard their wishes and interrupted the two boys.

"Fancy a seeker spot, eh, Potter?" the first boy inquired.

"Nah, the kid's just dreaming, Ryder. Only a first year, you know how their silly little minds work." the second boy replied.

Scorpius narrowed his eyes. "And you are?" he asked the first boy.

"The name's Ryder. Ryder Kane. And this is Pierce. Pierce Holden."

Pierce flipped his dark hair out of his eyes. "Oh, look. It's a Malfoy. Bet he's as much a ferret as his father." he snickered.

Scorpius's eyes narrowed even more into tiny slits. Albus had a heat for the boys as well, because he knew that Draco, Scorpius's father, had changed since the war, and was on good terms with Harry nowadays. "Don't..say a word..about my father." he warned.

"Ooh, what are you going to do about it, Malfoy?" they taunted.

Albus knew when his best friend was about to burst, and boy was he about to right now. His suspicions were confirmed when Scorpius swiftly drew his wand from his robes and, jumping from his seat, pointed it at Ryder and Pierce.

The boys stole a sideways glance at each other before laughing. That was exactly the distraction Scorpius needed. "Petrificus Totalus!" he shouted.

Instantly, the boys were frozen in place, wide-eyed and jaws dropped. Scorpius smiled smugly, but only for a moment, as he felt a hand being placed on his shoulder. He slowly turned around. Albus's smiled faded from view as he saw who had come over to them.

It was Professor Gwydion, their potions master. He was also the head of Slytherin house.

"I trust you had good reason jinxing Ryder and Pierce, Scorpius?" he asked, his voice drawing out. Scorpius and Albus had known enough of his harshness from being in potions class the previous week.

Scorpius's face went pale. "Er- well, you see, sir--they were talking bad about my--Er, no Professor. I don't." He stammered.

Professor Gwydion clicked his toungue. "As I suspected. Ten points from Slytherin." he stalked off, shaking his head.

Scorpius just stared after his professor, not saying anything.

"It's okay, Scorp. I would have done the same, had they said something like that about my father. Maybe Gwydion is just in a bad mood." Albus laid a reassuring hand on his friend's shoulder. "Come on, let's get to Transfiguration." The boys left, without another word.

The boys made their way to Transfiguration and took their seats next to Rose and another boy from Gryffindor, Vance Tristan. They greeted each other, and Rose smiled at them. Albus returned the simple gesture to his cousin. Moments later, Professor McGonagall entered the room and closed the door with a flick of her wand. She stood at the front of the class and took attendance. Then she spoke up.

"Good morning. Today, we're going to be working on a task a bit trickier than yesterday's. We're going to be transfiguring guinea pigs into teacups." She lifted a box from her desk and waltzed around the room, each student taking a teacup and guinea pig from the box.

Then lesson began. She instructed the students to say the incantation 'Cavia Poculum' clearly, whilst concentrating on the task set before them. Naturally, after just a few tries, Rose was the first to succeed. Albus watched in amazement as her guinea pig morphed into a cup. Professor McGonagall clapped, impressed by the young girl's actions.

"Well done, Miss Weasley, well done! I can see you're going to follow in your mother's footsteps." she praised her, with a wink. Rose beamed.

Scorpius set his wand down in frustration. "How do you do it so fast?" he demanded.

Rose was beside her self with pride, easily doing and undoing the transfiguration. "Mother taught me that concentration is key. Oh, and I did study a bit over the summer, of course."

Albus smiled. He knew his aunt Hermione was the brains of the family, and he knew from their childhood together that Rose had most definitely inherited this gene from her mother.

It took Albus and Scorpius numerous extra tries before succeeding in doing so. However, the occasion often arose that someone's cup would still have a fluffy tail attatched or sharp little teeth hanging over the edges. Professor McGonagall dismissed the class, and the trio left to head off to Herbology. On their way out, they bumped into a couple of older students, whom they recognized as Ryder and Pierce. The boys threw them dirty looks and sneered. "Watch where you're going Malfoy, Potter! Wouldn't want to get in trouble again, would we?"

Albus grabbed Scorpius's arm and drew him away as Rose trotted after them.

"What was that all about?" She asked.

"Scorp got caught up in a little..Er, quarrel, with those two this morning." Albus explained, glancing over his shoulder.

"They were talking bad about my dad! You'd have done the same!" he defended himself.

"That's horrible, Scorp! What did you do?"

"Petrificus Totalus. Professor Gwydion took points from Slytherin for it." he pouted.

Rose put her hand on his arm. "I'm real sorry Scorp, but you have to control your temper, watch your surroundings. You can't go jinxing people when they are teachers around, especially those like Gwydion!" she scolded him.

"Yeah, I know. I'm sorry. They just made me so angry." he apologized.

"It's alright."

The three walked out the front doors of the Entrance Hall to the greenhouses, not saying further word on the topic.
