XI •Rivals and Love•

I pull a chair closer to the right side of the bed where I placed Grayson, I wet the cloth in the bowl I have on the table next to me and ring it out, placing it on his forehead.

He's been in and out of sleep for hours and I just sit with him, watching him. He takes my breath away. I search, looking at his perfect face and pink lips, smiling I know that I like him, I like him even when I shouldn't.

"He looks peaceful, who is he?" Alex. I sigh and stop looking at Gray and turn to look at Alex instead "Can we take this outside, please?" He nods swiftly and goes back out on to the balcony.
"I'll be back Gray, I promise" I whisper into his ear but he's fast asleep.

I walk out and join Alex, "Who is he, Haylee?" I look at him "He is my friend, Alex, He has been taking care of me and now he is sick because he is so run down. Is that a problem Alex?" He turns to me and his eyes darken, the sun is setting and I wish it wouldn't.

"It is a problem Haylee, I don't want competition, frankly I'm not a fan" I laugh, this kids in fucking sane.
"Alex, come on. We were 16 and we thought that we were in love! It's been a year and we have changed. I'm not the girl I once was, I never want to be that girl again to be honest, so just let me go, Alex please, just let me go" His face turns red and I can tell he is getting angry.

"You have got to be fucking kidding me Haylee, I'm not letting you go, I'm still in love with you!" I'm just standing there staring at him, no, he can't be.
"No. No way Alex, I'm so not doing this again" I start to back up and he grips my waist, looking down to the ground I feel his hand lift my chin back up to meet his gaze.

"Please Haylee, Please give me a chance, I promise I'll be better" I watch his eyes flicker across my face "I've already had my heart broken twice by you and I'm not about to let it happen again" I place my hands on his chest and push him away and he stumbles.

"I've changed! Please Haylee will you not give me a chance" he grips my wrists, hard. "Let go Alex" I try to yank them away but he only grabs harder "No, not until you give me a chance" I smelt something "Alex, are you drunk?" He moves closer to me and actually notice it, his eyes are blood shot and his breath reeks of whiskey.

"Nope, I just want you Haylee" my wrists are starting to go purple "Alex, let me go your hurting me Please!" His eyes darken but his grip remains "Oh I get it, now I'm hurting you right? I'm such a bad person, oh no" he shoves me to the ground and crouches to my level still holding onto one of my wrists.

"Please Alex.." tears are streaming down my face at this point and I'm scared "I want, what I want Haylee and that's you, why don't you like me any more! Am I not mean enough, do I have to get tougher for you?!" He screams into my face and I try to back away. "Oh no, no Haylee this isn't over"

"I think it is" I look up and see Grayson standing at the door way, his face is pale and he's sweating hard. He is not doing so well.
"Gray go back to bed, I'm fine" I see Alex has a grin spreading across his face "Yeah Grayson go back to bed" I look at Alex and then Grayson, do they know each other?

"Go home Alex, don't ever come back. It's over" his fist ball up as he steps towards Alex "I don't think so Dolan, in fact it's only just begun" he lets go of my wrists and he stands up, I scramble backwards more towards Grayson and he steps Infront of me protectively.

"I said, Go Home Alex" looking frantically between them I was worried for Gray. So I stand up and put my hand on his shoulder "Please Gray, just forget about it, I'm fine let's go back inside" he looks at me breifly and then back to Alex.

"What's wrong Gray? Cat got your tongue? Or should I say girl?" He laughs and Grayson steps towards him, his fingers are still curled into fists and are changing colours to pink then white everytime alex says something. Alex noticed and laughed.

"Does she know?" He steps towards us and Grayson tenses. "Know what?" Turning to gray, I step so I'm standing off to the side and looking between both of them now "Nothing, go inside" he mumbled under his breath, Alex's smirk only widens and that makes me mad so I turn and look at Grayson.

"Tell me Gray, what am I meant to know!" I yell slightly and he flinches, "Well Haylee, maybe you should go inside" Alex replies Snickering, that little fucker "Haylee please, go inside" Gray reaches out and cups his hand around my cheek, "Please tell me" he sighs and drops his hand down so it's resting at his side, he is exhausted and hasn't got much strength left, I can tell.

He is about to speak, until Alex stopped him "We are bestfriends Haylee, he was meant to help me get you back but all of a sudden he stopped wanting to help, I haven't seen him in weeks and now I know"

I look at Grayson and his head is looking towards the ground "Is this true Gray?" My voice is barely a whisper but he hears me and nods "Yes it's true, I helped Alex but I stopped seeing him 2 months ago" I turn back to Alex, "You said something before" he nods and allows me to continue, "What do you know" he smiles wide and it isn't a nice one.

"Oh Haylee, can't you see?" I look at him puzzled and he scoffs "HES IN LOVE WITH YOU HAYLEE!" I move away from Alex and hide behind Grayson. Alex is staring at Grayson and they both move towards each other about half a metre away from touching.

"Leave Alex" Alex looks at me and speaks one final time "I want you to choose Haylee" I freeze "Grayson Or Myself"

I look between them. Who do I choose? My childhood sweet heart or my superhero?

They both turn to me, staring at me wait for the answer, I swallow hard and speak one final time, but before I do Alex pipes in "Who ever you choose, the loser has to leave.." Grayson pipes in too "... and never returns" they look at each other and nod, looking back at me I open my mouth.

"I choose..."
