I tossed and turned as Light called my name. "Light!" His mother called.
"Coming! Konama won't get up." He called back.
"Well, is she sick?" Light looked at me. I nodded. Light sighed and grabbed his backpack before leaving out. When I heard the front door close I got up and changed out of my pajamas. I wasn't really sick, I just wanted Light out of the house so I could investigate.
I looked in the mirror at my white blouse and black jeans. My brown hair layed flat against my shoulders. I walked over to Light's desk. He usually sits here to do his homework. I opened a drawer on the right side.
Nothing. Just a plain diary. I picked it up. Noticing that it wasn't locked, I flipped through the pages. Why would Light have a diary, not lock it, and not use it? It was strange, I have to admit. Something's just missing! I felt along the bottom inside of the drawer. Then on the outside bottom. I stopped and looked at the wooden bottom. A small barely noticeable hole was put in the bottom. I grabbed a pen that sat on his desk and pulled out the cartridges. Slowly, I eased it in the hole.
The bottom part of the drawer began to rise. A false bottom. He must be hiding something important. I pulled up the false bottom even more. A black notebook layed in the drawer. I pulled it out. It read Death Note.
On the first page it read:
Death Note
How to use it
The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
This note will not take affect unless the writer has the person's face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the person's name, it will happen.
If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack.
After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
I flipped through the pages, looking at all the names written down. I had to see L. I grabbed my black purse and stuffed the note book inside.

I threw my bag in a random place as I heard the front door open. "I'm home!" Light called out. I jumped in the bed and pretended to be asleep. He opened his door and walked over to his desk. I could hear him open the drawer. Silence.
He probably notices the Death Note not being there. I thought to myself. "I know you're up." Light's voice was hard. I stayed silent. I could feel his arm wrap around my wrist, pulling me up. I was only an inch away from him. The intensity in his brown eyes hypnotized me.
We starred at each other for what felt like an hour. Finally, I noticed something out of the corner of my eyes. "Ahhh!" I screamed. Whatever it was it was scary! Its eyes were yellow with a red pupil. The rest of him covered with dark blue clothes that matched his lip. Lights gaze hardened. "So you did take it." I looked back at him in fear.
Light looked down at my bag, which was in front of the closet, and grabbed it. I watched in horror as he took out the Death Note.
The last thing I saw was Light open it before something cold and hard banged against my head, knocking me out."Konama." A voice called. I opened my eyes to see Light already dressed for school. "Get dressed. We have be at school by 8:30." I sat up, but paused. Last night . . . What happened? I starred at my bag as I tried to recall last nights events. So far, nothing came back. I looked back at Light and nodded my head.
I stripped off my clothing and stepped into the shower. I ran a hand through my hair as the warm water fell across my body. I stopped. Just above my left ear was a knot. It wasn't there before. What happened? After changing into my uniform and took the bus with Light.
When we got off, I looked back at Light. He glanced at me and looked forward once more. "Just follow me. Plus, you came at a really bad time. Today were supposed to be taking a test."

I tapped my pencil lightly on my desk. The test didn't seem that hard. I looked behind to see if anyone else was done. To my surprise, Ryuuzaki sat a few rows away with the tip of his thumb in his mouth. I can't believe him. I thought turning back around My brother, as I know, would never show his face. What's the difference now?
I walked out the classroom with slight uneasiness. Outside, Ryuuzaki had a black stretched limo waiting for him. Show off.
Ryuuzaki walked next to Light who was a couple feet behind me. I watched out of the corner of my eye. Light had stopped walking. Then said something about Kira. I could tell that my brother didn't believe a word he just said. They exchanged their goodbyes and left.
A few hours later I sat on Light's bed, watching him study for a test. My phone ringing broke the silence. "Hello?"
"It's Ryuuzaki." I showed no emotion on my face as I spoke. Light starred at me intently.
"Nice to hear from you. What's up?" I said trying to act casually.
"Is Light there with you?"
"Yeah. What about it?†On the other end it was silent.
"I need you to come over. There's something I got to show you."
I faked a smile. "Really! I'll be right there. Ciao!" God I hate doing that! I could just see my brother rolling his eyes before hanging up the phone.
"Where you going?" Light asked watching me get up from my bed.
"A friend I made today wants me to go shopping with her. It's girl stuff, you know." Light's eyes lightened slightly before he turned back to his studying.
"Have fun." I heard him mutter as I ran out the door and down the steps.
I met Ryuuzaki at his new hotel. The old man opened the door once more. "Watari?" I asked eying the man's face. He nodded. In front of a computer, Ryuuzaki sat in the fetal position. "What was so important?" I asked taking a seat beside him.
"Kira. The pattern of his murders is usually between 5pm to 2am on week days."
"So that means he's a student." Ryuuzaki nodded, putting the tip of his thumb in his mouth.
"But recently they've been happening more frequent now. This is something I forgot to mention."
"Why were you there? During testing?" Ryuuzaki starred at me before answering.
"By showing myself I have risked my life. I want to catch Kira and I'm very positive that Light is Kira. That's why Watari will be placing bugs and other hidden cameras within the Yagami household. There's still only a 5% chance that Kira is in this family."
"Why are you bugging their house?"
"Kira has recently been getting his information from the police. We don't know how, who, or when it got leaked. Now he knows what are exact moves are. I've recently been having meetings with the Task Force. I want you to accompany me on the next one. Don't bring your cell phone or tell anyone else. You cannot take notes on what I say in the meeting. Even though you are my sister and we haven't been in contact at all, I can't risk Kira finding out more than he already knows." I nodded my head.
"Looks like I'll be seeing more of you from now on." I muttered looking at the blank screen.
"So it seems."

One Week Later
I sat on Light's bed after just getting home from school. Knowing the house was bugged already, I decided to see just what they were up to. I grabbed my phone and text Ryuuzaki. "Where are you?" I pressed the send button and waited for a response. "Someplace technical. I'll send you the address." After waiting a couple of second's the address showed. I walked the way over there.
After entering the Police Station a man lead me to where the others would be. On our way there he said his name was Matsuda. When we got down to where the others would be, I sat down in a seat next to Ryuuzaki. We watched what the cameras captured in silence. Looks like Light already came home. He went up to his room and turned the knob up. Then paused.
"He knows someone's been in his room." I stated. Ryuuzaki looked at me surprised. "Who turns the handle upward, knowing it's supposed to be turned down, and stops? There had to be a trap of some sort. The paper in the gap of the door was just a coverup. The real trap would be something hard to spot." Ryuuzaki smiled slightly. "Nice observation."
After Light had changed, which I refused to watch, he went downstairs into the kitchen. The rest of the house was empty. When Ryuuzaki said I could look, Light was reading porno magazines. "As a woman, I somehow feel violated." I muttered. I could hear chief say something like “I can't believe my son reads porno magazines.â€
"It's normal for seventeen year old boys to do that but . . . I believe he's trying to make it all seem normal." Chief starred at my brother in disbelief.
"Are you saying that you suspect my son to be Kira?"
"Yes." It was silent.
A couple minutes later, Matsuda broke it. "Who is this woman, Ryuuzaki?" He asked pointing at me.
"My sister." My brother responded. I stood up and smirked at their stunned faces.
"I'm a P.I from America. Nice to meet you all. I'm Matsu." The men all introduced themselves nervously.
"Watari. Broadcast the announcement." Ryuuzaki said into a microphone.
"What a dumb move." I could hear Light say as he ate dinner with the family. "Making an announcement like that saying that they'll send for more agents isn't going to make a difference. The twelve FBI agents that were sent undercover still got killed. This will probably end in the same way." Ryuuzaki put the tip of his thumb in his mouth. "Your son is pretty smart." He muttered to the chief. Too smart. I thought.
For the rest of the night Light studied. I yawned and looked back at Ryuuzaki. "Would you mind if I spent the night?"
"Not at all." We watched Light study for the rest of the night.
"He's been studying since 7:30. What time is it now?" I asked.
"10:30." I got up from my seat and yawned.
"Watari will escort you out." I walked next to Watari in the halls as he showed me to my brother's room. Of course, we had to drive there since I was at the police station. When I got to his hotel room I collapsed on the couch. Wow that was a long night.
***
"Wake up." Ryuuzaki said. I sat up to find myself in a warm light pink bed. "You need to get to school. I'll drive you." I nodded and got up. After washing up and changing into an extra set of clothes Ryuuzaki gave me, I joined him in his limo. "We'll be arriving at school 20 minutes early."
"Why that early?" I asked.
"No reason." I nodded my head and layed back in my seat. When we arrived at school there was a huge test going on to determine if you were getting accepted into a good college.
I took my assigned seat at the back of the class room. About ten minutes before the test started Light showed up. When the examiners let us start the test, a few seconds later, Light was already finished. "Student 162. please sit in your seat the correct way." An examiner said walking up to Ryuuzaki. Light looked back at him. They starred at each other for a long period of time before looking away.
The battle was only beginning.
After the test, I walked next to Light. "Where were you? Mom and Dad were worried." Light asked.
"It was really late so I stayed the night as a friends house." Light nodded.
"Next time, tell me." When I arrived home Light started studying.
***
Four months later me and Light went to attend Toho University. First, we had to go to the ceremony. I picked out a turquoise knee-length V neck dress to wear while Light wore a brown suit. My brother would probably show up in some jeans and a t-shirt. I let my hair down for the ceremony. When we got there, I sat next to Light. "And now a few words from out freshmen representatives." A man said into the mike. "Yagami Raito." Light stood up and walk on stage. "Ryuuga Hideki." Whispers erupted from the audience. No surprise. That's the name of a huge Japanese pop star. "And Yagami Konama." I stood up, smiling, as I walked onto the stage with the others.
Turns out, My brother was Hideki Ryuuga. Of course, he hunched and wore some jeans and a t-shirt without any shoes or socks. As we all gave our speeches more whispers were heard from the audience. "Who is he?"
"He looks like a slob."
"I heard that the ones who give the speech have the most highest test scores."
"All three had perfect scores."
"Compare them to each other. The one on the right doesn't look much like a genius. He looks sloppy. Probably came from a poor family. The one in the middle is wearing something casual. It's no surprise she would do good on the test, but a perfect score? That's impossible. And the one on the left looks like he came from a rich family. A true genius."
"Maybe the one on the right is an example of a natural genius."
After we gave our speech I followed Hideki off the stage and took a seat next to him. "Light Yagami. I have something to tell you involving the Kira case."
Light was silent. "You can trust me."
"I am L." It was silent. I looked at my brother like he was mad. Why would he admit to being L? It doesn't make any sense. Unless he's trying to get a reaction out of him. Something that Kira would do.
