Heidi slowly shifted her gaze from the girls to her right, to the three invitations in her left hand. Her eyelashes heaving like a miniature wave as her eyes moved in slow motion. She didn't stop talking the whole way to the cafeteria. She talked more with her hands than her mouth, the words existing as explanation to the movements. When she was happy, you could see it from across the room.
-" A masquerade ball!" She ran her red fingernails through her blond hair, a gesture she always used to charm her way out of something, but the people she was trying to convince now were too familiar with her twisted ways. She sighed, taking a seat next to Sky.
-" That could be fun, right Sky?" Lydia smiled like christmas came early.
-" I don't know, I mean a masquerade ball?" Sky looked like she was unsure. Heidi knew it was a great idea but her friend didn't think so. She could sense the doubt radiating from her. This wouldn't work if she wasn't on board; and the girl with the red nails knew she had to convince her, but she was too questioning to easily persuade. " The thought of me being surrounded by strangers in marks for the whole night is just.. Terrifying. It's Shadehaven, we hate strangers, and I hate the unknown, why would your father host a party every year where everyone can pretend to be someone else and still get away with it? I have a bad feeling about this"
-" Come on Sky! Think of it as a game of disguise, a love parade, hot strangers under masks and luxurious food, don't forget the food. I had mom ordering the poisoned apples, they're our favorite" Her eyes were still green, but they were no longer the bright, sparkling emerald of five minutes ago. "Come on, please please please, I won't stop until you say yes, please please ple-"
-" Fine! We'll come! Just shut up, okay?" Liraz answered annoyed
-" Yes!" Heidi said clapping hands from joy. " Great, so we should go shopping, don't worry, I called your parents telling them we'll be home late, of course they are all okay with it, because, duh, they are invited as well. Except, sorry Liraz, your father isn't going to be here by the weekend, I heard he got a lot of work to do. My parents really wanted him to show up though"
-" Good riddance., I don't wanna spend the night seeing him around Whorish Trish" she rolled her eyes.
-" And Lydia honey, don't worry about your car, I sent someone to drive it back home, we're taking my car" She looked down at the list of things she needed to do today, and checked evey task she already accomplished. "Oh and I know the best place to shop masks. So after school, be ready for a shopping spree. And Liraz, you're not wearing black this time!"
-" I am not wearing pink Heidi!" The redhead snapped, tying her hair in a messy bun. If she was to count the times Heidi tried to make wear somthing pink, claiming that Ariel has a pink dress, Liraz could go for days.
-" Oh stop it, it'll look good on you! Ariel always-"
-" Sky! A little help here!" Liraz begged, slamming her fork on the table
-" You won't wear pink honey, don't worry"
-" No pink. I win" In her arrogant triumph, Liraz smirked - just a small pouting of the lips; a narrowing of the eyes and a tilting of the head. It was so subtle, it was even more infuriating for Heidi who caught a glimpse of it after Sky took her side.
-" We'll see about that later" Heidi murmured, biting on her sandwich.
-" Have you talked to Killian?" Heidi asked, out of the blue.
-" No, I haven't." she said firmly
-" Have you talked to the quarterback, I thought you had a bet" Liraz asked
