The next morning I was greeted by the sound of birds singing from the open window and the sun kissing my eyelids awake. My body felt relaxed, stress-free, and full of positive energy. Slowly I sat up and stretched which triggered a yawn before I finally woke up. Smiling, I threw the blankets off the bed and stood up, I stayed the night at someone's house for once. This is the first time I have ever done that, and it was a boys’! My heart fluttered softly as I walked towards the door and headed out.

Jinyoung sat in the kitchen eating a bowl of cereal and waved to me, I waved back. “Good morning, how did you sleep?” He asked with a mouthful of food. It made me laugh, he looked like a chipmunk who was harvesting for the winter.

“Really great, I didn’t wake up tired at all.” I laughed sitting next to him. He slid over a clean bowl, a box a cereal, and milk over to me. I gladly accepted it as I poured my breakfast. Jinyoung rinsed out his bowl before handing me a spoon. “Thank you.”

“Do you have any plans today?” He asked with the smallest smile painted on his face.

I thought about it. I really do need to be home today, I can’t be gone all day. “Well, I have to be home today but if you wanted to hang out for a little bit I’m sure that would be okay, I mean that is if you want to, if you don’t want to that-”

“I’d love to.” He interrupted me. I went quiet. Really? With a smirk, he continued. “There is the fall festival going on downtown today and I figured we could go, I mean that is if you want to, if you don’t I completely under-”

“I’d love to.” I smiled at him, stopping him from talking. With the faintest laugh he nodded before giggling, I swear I think I saw some blush.

About an hour or so later we decided to head out. Jinyoung let me borrow some of his sister's old clothes she left here before heading off to college and they looked really good on me. She is more on the girly pink side but I like it. Jinyoung always encouraged me to try on some makeup which I reluctantly did and I must admit I feel beautiful.

We walked on the sidewalk for about 20 minutes before we made it to the festival. There were rides and little games, food, and of course my favorite: candy! My eyes widened like a little kid when I saw it, I don’t remember the last time I did anything like this. Normally my dad just stays home and drinks, so I couldn’t really go anywhere growing up. I still don’t only because everywhere I go, everyone hates me. Jinyoung paid for our bracelet passes which means we get to ride all of the rides here and go to the front of the line. “Anything you want to do first?” He asked looking down at me.

My eyes scanned the crowds of people and rides and one caught my attention. A huge bumper car arena was calling my name. “Bumper cars.” I spoke and Jinyoung nodded and we walked towards the arena. When we got there we showed the man running it our bracelets and he let us fly on by. I climbed into a blue car while Jinyoung got into a yellow one. Jinyoung and I stared each other down. We both laughed and knew to go after each other, I am going to win. Once the go sound honked we sped around bumping into each other and one another. I was laughing, I was so happy that I was crying because I was laughing so hard. This feels great!

Our day consisted of  Go-Karts, smoothies, junk food, and Jinyoung winning me a giant polar bear. I was having the time of my life and nothing could ruin it. The sun was just starting to set when we got unwelcomed company. Jennie. She and her little group of brats made their way to us. Jinyoung had a serious expression on his face while I tried to stay calm. Remember what he said, stay strong. I am the lion, she is the mouse. I am the lion, she is the mouse. Before Jennie could talk I rolled my eyes and spoke. “What do you want?” The tone of my voice surprised Jinyoung but I caught him snagging a little bit of a smile. The sass was strong today, maybe it’s because of my outfit, Maybe it’s because I’m wearing makeup, I don’t know. What I do know is I’m not letting Jennie tear me down today.

“We just came by to congratulate you two.” They chuckled. Jinyoung and I looked at each other and raised an eyebrow before turning back to them. “Don’t play stupid, you guys are totally together!” Jennie chuckled. “Ugly April and now Stupid little Jinyoung. It’s amazing how you can mess with someone's head bad enough that you force them to date you, pathetic.”

Does she really think we are dating? Oh, no she is going to ruin his reputation all because I am in public with him, everything about this is wrong. “Oh shut it, Jennie, April is not ugly, have you seen her? She can beat you in a beauty pageant any day. The only pathetic one here is you.” Jinyoung spat.

“Oh really? Explain this then.” She turned her phone which showed a picture of jinyoung winning me the stuffed animal. “Jinyoung sneaks around to Ugly April because she is that desperate.”

“The only person who is desperate right now is you Jennie.” The anger exploded in my body. “You prance around here like you’re something so special when you're just as ordinary as everyone else. The only thing that makes you popular is because people are scared of you, no one likes you, it’s because they are scared Miss Bitch will come around and ruin their lives. All you care about is attention and how many guys will look at you when you dress like a complete whore! No one who supports you loves you, you’re a rotten cold-hearted slut who only thinks about herself.” I started walking closer to her and she walked backward. “You use me and everyone else because you have problems that you can’t control and figure out on your own! You are the pathetic one picking on everyone else because you are a wasteful human being, you show no love, no sympathy and you know what? That is ugly, you are the ugliest person I have ever met! Dog shit is more beautiful than you.” I gritted my teeth and looked down to her. Her face was shocked and surprised as I pushed her to the ground. “I am the lion, you are the mouse.”

Her posse backed down and ran off only leaving Jennie there. She looked terrified, humiliated, it’s what she deserved. Quickly she picked herself up and ran away after her little friends and I breathed trying to calm down. I did it. I stood up to her, I stood up to Jennie! I turned and faced Jinyoung who was shocked but was smiling at me. “Good job! I’m so proud of you!” He ran up to me and hugged me, spinning me around. We laughed as I wrapped my arms around his neck and looked down at him.

We both froze. We both stopped laughing and redness consumed our faces. Jinyoung quickly set me down and we both cleared our throats awkwardly. “Well, want some cotton candy?” Jinyoung rubbed the back of his neck nervously. I nodded and stuffed my hands in my pocket. Yeah, let’s go. It’s probably better than standing here awkwardly.
