I couldn't be happier to see rain falling from the sky today. Not a lot of people enjoy the rain because it lowers their moods and wet their hair, making them all sticky. Personally, I don't mind at all, water is my element so I never complain about the rain, I don't cry from joy either. Except for today. I was bouncing around in the changing room like a kid, repeating again and again how cool it was that the weather was rainy. I had a good reason to be that excited. In fact, for the first time we would swim in the indoor pool of the Swordfish Club, and just thinking about it made me feel on cloud nine. Nonetheless, I was the only one to be in this delightful mood. Others were grumpy, still complaining about Vic's behavior. It was understandable, I mean, it happened two days ago so the incident was still fresh on their mind.
As usual, Justin was taking his sweet time to change and I was ready to tell him to hurry up when a thought popped into my mind. Vic told me about a teammate having a thing for me and I was kind of curious to see who he was. If I remembered correctly, his name was Emmeric. However, I had no idea who this guy was. Maybe Vic invented an imaginary guy to tease me. I mean, how would he know this guy was watching me a lot during training? He must have been really obvious, yet I never saw him. Still, I had to make sure.
"Hey Justin, do you know a guy named Emmeric?" I asked quietly, not wanting to be heard by the others because if he existed, well I would be ridiculous.
"You're kidding, right? He's in most of our classes. Look, it's the guy over here, with the blue flannel shirt" Justin informed me while nodding discretely toward the guy in question.
I turned my head and my eyes fell onto a boy with short light brown hair who spun his head around vigorously the moment I caught him staring at me. One moment before, his cheeks were pale, one moment after, they turned a bright red. Even his ears were flushed. I couldn't help myself but express my thoughts out loud.
"Aww, he's so cute!" I piped.
I think he heard that, yeah he totally heard that. I could tell by the color of his face reddening even more by the second. I shrugged, being discreet wasn't one of my things, plus it was a compliment so it was fine, right?
"Quiet Kellin, you just afraid the poor boy," Justin hissed and I rolled my eyes.
"Why? I speak the truth," I protested. He gave me a disapproving look as my voice rang around the room. Oops, well that Emmeric guy would know that I wasn't joking.
Anyway, I wasn't the only one to have trouble with staying discreet. As Justin and I were heading toward the door leading to the indoor pool, I heard clearly the little conversation of a guy and Emmeric.
"See? He looked at you and said that you're cute!" exclaimed a voice excitedly.
While closing the door behind me, I quickly look in their direction, just as a pissed off Emmeric put his hand over the mouth of his friend.
"Shh! Don't say that out loud!" he complained, dying from embarrassment.
Once the door was closed, I giggled lightly. How could I never have noticed him? The way he blushed when I caught him was absolutely the cutest thing I had ever seen. I sighed in contentment, that was so cool Vic told me about his existence. I was so engrossed in my thoughts that Justin nudged me and I finally turned around.
The indoor pool was something, really it was. It was so much better compared to the Dolphin Club, my old swimming club. The room was really spacious with an Olympic pool in the center. Just above it, where a ceiling should have been, there was an immense window, letting the rain pouring against it. But the most amazing thing was the wall at the other side of the room. Just like in the changing room, it was covered in mosaic, well on the most part it was. It seemed like the work was still in progress, but we could already see a portion of a fish emerging from giant waves. I couldn't take my eyes off this masterpiece, it was too perfect. Trust Justin to decide to annoy me at this moment.
