:I really miss you. I know it's silly, you've been gone like 3 days and I'm being stupid and I shouldn't even send this but I really really miss you, Phil. I hate being home without you. It's not the same without you. I can't even fall asleep in our bed because it's too big and empty. I know it's stupid, okay? I'm being stupid.
:Just...maybe call me when you wake up? I'll be up. Like I said, not sleeping well.

1:57am Incoming Call From 'Phil 💙'

"Dan? I know you said you'd be awake but...I didn't just wake you up, did I?"
"No, no, I was up...Did I wake you up? I'm sorry, you didn't have to call so early, I'm just being silly..."

Phil's voice was still rough with sleep, yet soft at the edges just for Dan.
"You're not being silly. You think I don't miss you too? I love my family but...it's not the same without you. You are my family. I'll be home tomorrow, okay? Right after the wedding, I'm coming home. I miss you to pieces, Bear. I haven't slept much either."

Dan sighed and curled up tighter from his spot on the couch.
"We're both silly. Like a couple of lovesick teenagers, can't even go a few measly days without each other. Although, I guess if I was going to be silly with anyone, it would be you. Always you."

The line was silent for a moment before Phil cleared his throat.
"You can't just...say that. You're going to make me was to come home right this second and then Aunty Marie will be upset that I missed her wedding and I won't even be able to feel sorry because I'll be with you. Which isn't allowed. So don't you say those things, hold onto them until I'm back and you can say them to me in person and then I'll be able to say them right back. Okay?"

Dan sniffled, trying his hardest not to feel pathetic.
"Okay. You're sure your Aunt Marie would be that upset? You could be home by dinner if you got on a flight now..."

Phil laughed softly.
"I'm positive she'd be absolutely heartbroken. I promise you'll come with me next time."
"Fine..."

The couple talked quietly for over an hour until Phil had to leave to get ready for the wedding he had to attend. They shared "I love you"s quietly before reluctantly ending the phone call.

They would be together soon enough.
