It is now nearing midnight, and the Hogwarts corridors are eerily quiet. JAMES, SIRIUS, REMUS, PETER, and LILY silently move against a stone wall, keeping a watchful eye around them. SIRIUS is holding the Map of Hogwarts, with his wand alighted.
SIRIUS: They're just around the corner.
LILY: This is such a bad idea!
JAMES: Okay, what are we gonna do?
SIRIUS: We have to get them out of the Castle somehow. The entrance hall is just down the corridor, we just need something to chase them out-
PETER: Like a dog?
SIRIUS: No, Peter, something scarier than a dog, like a-
REMUS: A bat?
JAMES: The Bat-Bogey Hex! Remember, Remus? You found it in that library book-
LILY: What's a Bat-Bogey Hex?
JAMES: It's hilarious. C'mon, let's do it!
SIRIUS: Okay. Wands out.
They each remove their wands and carefully look around the corner, where the three Death Eaters are silently waiting, dressed in black.
BELLATRIX: You're sure he wasn't in his office?
RODOLPHUS: We checked the whole dungeon, he's not there-
BELLATRIX: Where in sweet Merlin could he be?
SIRIUS gives the others a nod and stows away the Map.
SIRIUS: Okay, ready? One, two, three!
The five Gryffindors each point their wands at the Death Eaters and yell out a strange incantation. Immediately, large bats begin to spew out of their noses, causing a frenzy.
BELLATRIX: Who is that? Who's there?
RABASTAN: Merlin's beard! What are these-
BELLATRIX: What the devil- !
SIRIUS lets out a laugh, and the others join in.
SIRIUS: Good idea, James.
JAMES: It's nothing, really.
Suddenly, lights begin to illuminate the corridor and footsteps are heard nearby.
BELLATRIX: Someone's coming! Hurry, get outside! Now! Go!
The Death Eaters hurriedly sprint through the entrance hall and out onto the grounds, with the flock of bats chasing after them. Nearby, MINERVA'S voice can be heard.
LILY: It's McGonagall! We have to go!
SIRIUS: No! We have to tell her that Bella is here!
LILY: Sirius, no! We'll get into trouble-
SIRIUS: I don't care! This is serious! People could be in danger, the teachers have to know. Professor!
MINERVA, descending the staircase in a tartan dressing gown, turns around and sees the Gryffindors huddled against the wall. Looking furious, she makes her way over to them.
