Emma's POV
10 years ago my family was killed in a vicious raid on our kingdom. The vampires had been starting to question whether we were fit to rule or not. Then from the shadows rose a new ruler, the first vampire king, Shade. He rallied everyone with doubts and formed his own rebellion. Soon enough he had made it illegal in the vampire kingdom to not participate in the raid.
That's when everything came crumbling down.
They slashed their way through our defensive with ease. You see we were completely oblivious to the attack and we weren't made aware of it until it was too late.
I distinctly remember that last day in the palace when I was 7."They've made it through the gates!" My mother had yelled at my father in fear.
By that point all of my family, from my third cousins to my grandparents had been gathered in the great hall awaiting their deaths.
My father sighed in defeat."You know what we have to do Alexandra" he whispered to my mother.
They then both glanced at me in sadness, before my mother walked over and clasped both of my small hands in her soft elegant ones.
"Emma, we are going to get you out of here but you have to promise us one thing" she started.
I nodded slightly, my bottom lip quivering in fear.
"You have to stay hidden in whatever prison they put you in. No one can know who you are. Do you understand?"
For that first moment in my life I had wished that I didn't understand. Even now all of these years later, I wish that I had stood there faking the misunderstanding of a normal child and died beside my parents. But I didn't. I had hidden under the tiles of that hall in a small compartment barely fitting my child like size. I had sat there and listened to my family being slaughtered because I was afraid.
Now all of these years later I am still afraid. Afraid to face my past, which is filled to the brim with sadness and despair. But most of all, I'm afraid to claim the life that should have been mine. So here I stay. In this small, fearful colony of werewolves in the midst of the vampire kingdom. Everyone else just goes about their lives as though we aren't imprisoned in a slaughterhouse waiting to be chosen for the arena.
You see, eventually everyone is plucked from their school or job to be put in the arena. Let's call it the cinemas for vampires. They send us in there with their best warriors and watch us being slaughtered for entertainment. The whole concept is sick. I don't think there is a kind or pleasant vampire in the entire four kingdoms!
They're all killers and psychotics.
But luckily for me, I haven't been chosen yet. The arena is yet to be drenched with my blood. Yet, the consistent disappearances throughout the school serves as a sickening reminder of where we are and what would happen to each of us eventually.
However, the worst reminder of all is that of my 17th birthday which is occurring on this very day. The day when the sign of my lineage will appear. The day when my eyes finally change from the regular dull yellow to the piercing blue signifying royal blood.
From this day onward I will be confined to my human form to avoid risk of the exposure of my secret. The secret of my hidden destiny.
Luke's POV
My life is a twisted version of normal set in place by the tormentors that sit above, watching us. They put us where they want us to be, and watch us interact with one another. They make us feel like we're safe in here, right before they pluck us from the crowds to be sent for slaughter. It's like we're the dolls in their own perfectly crafted dollhouse, except when you look deeper into the cracks and gaping holes you can spot the blood from the last set of beatings and the cracks in the concrete where our skulls have been pressed into the ground.
There is nothing more that I want than to get out of here but unfortunately this is my unwanted destiny. To live a life of pain and sadness only to die in an even more painful death. For a long time I have been thinking about this unfairness and this time I am done waiting around.
I am going to find a way out of here if it is the last thing I do. I just need to wait for the best opportunity...
Prince Xavier's POV
From the moment I came into this world I was born into a race of wickedness and cruelty. To see what my father has done to one of our fellow supernatural races makes me sick to the deepest pit of my stomach.
He has degraded a once magnificent race to the social status of dogs, which is ironic seeing as they are in a way dogs. But no matter what their race consists of, no one deserves that kind of treatment, not even werewolves.
Though my father has taught me since birth of their vicious nature and blood lust and that it is my destiny to despise. Yet, I can't help but hold some bit of hope that they aren't what they seem. As far as I've heard from all the guards, they are ill tempered psychotics that deserve to be locked up for life.
But since when do I listen to what others say? I'm the vampire prince, so if I want to see what is happening down in those werewolf colonies then there's nothing in hell that can stop me.
Heyyyyyy
So there's the first chapter. I'm starting the next one right after this since I'm on the bus for a while.
