When Harry woke up the next morning, it was still dark outside. He couldn't fall back to sleep so he gathered his clothes for the day and his bathroom necessities and went to take a shower.
After he finished his shower, he quietly left the dorm room and went to the common room. The common room was very nice, and Harry really liked it there. There were many chairs and couches that were surprisingly comfortable, even though they were leather and looked hard and uncomfortable.
Harry sat down in the chair closest to the fire that was nice and warm. As he started into the fire, he thought about what happened over the summer.
Why did his uncle do that to him? What did he even do?
All Harry knew was that it hurt really bad when he touched his bottom. And he could still feel the whip of the belt on his back. That really hurt him. Why didn't his uncle and aunt love him? Why did his cousin insist on making his life terrible every chance he got, taking away every good thing that ever came his way?
Why couldn't Harry get any love?
Did his friends even like him? Or were they just putting up with him because he was so pathetic they couldn't but help show him sympathy? Harry didn't know, but he was still sad either way.
Little did he know, a certain professor was listening to his every thought.
