I was born in the castle of Aldrian. My mother was a cook and my father... well I don't know what he was. My father had abandoned my mother when he found out she was pregnant with me. So my mother raised me all by herself, even though she had to work very hard to keep me alive she still loved me and protected me every day. When I got old enough for physical labor my mother asked me to lend her a hand in the castle kitchen. I was supposed to bring her the things she would need like vegetables, spoons and oven mittens. When I turned 10 I was allowed to cut the vegetables and do the shopping for her. I would go out into the town and buy whatever she wrote on the grocery list. When I turned 14 we decided to split the work my mom had to do, I did half and she did a half of the work.

We kept this up together until one day, the king had told my mother that she had done a horrible job on the soup she made that day. My mother came back into the kitchen with tears dripping down from her eyes, she was covered in the soup she had made for the king. I got furious and ran out of the kitchen, to the throne room knowing that the king would be there. I pushed the large doors open and ran up to the throne. The king looked up at me with a smug look and he told me that he had been expecting me. "I have heard a lot about you boy. I heard you have been helping out the old lady in the kitchen" Even more angry than I already was I shouted at him "My mother is not an old lady you failure of a king" The king looked at me surprised but also somehow impressed. "I suppose you are right she is only 35 isn't she. And you, are how old again?" I answer him confused about the change of topic "I turned 16 yesterday" The king laughed really hard and said "Yes that's right. Now boy how would you feel about being forced to join my army" I look at him as angry as I can get "I do not intend to leave my mother". He smiles at me "Yes, yes I had figured that much but did you notice? I only asked how you would feel about being forced into my army. I didn't say I wouldn't force you if you said you didn't want to" He laughs and he then shouts to his guards to take me away.

I got dragged into the the army base to train and to most likely never see my mother again. I got forced to fight hard and I was taught how to kill effectively. Ever since I was a little boy I had hated the thought of killing, I didn't want to kill for no reason. So I prayed, the way my mother had told me to. I prayed to any god that would listen hoping there would be one willing to help me. I prayed that I would never be dragged into war and I prayed that I would see my mother again. Despite all my prayers I got send out to war with most of my fellow soldiers back from the army base. We arrived in front of the country we were supposed to take over. We stepped up to their gate and yelled our war cry. We heard screams from the other side of the wall. Before we could even move, their walls were filled with clerics, wizards, bards and a whole lot of other magic users. We didn't know what we were supposed to do, so we just stood there. We stood there silently until we saw a large ball of fire form, they were going to burn us all down. So I shouted as hard as I could, that we had to run, that if we didn't we would be burned to ashes. Only half of the army listened and ran the rest stood there frozen. Knowing I didn't posses anything that could possible save them I tried to push and pull as many away as I could before running myself. Even though I had tried my hardest the fire ball still killed a large portion of our troupes half of those who lived had gotten injured. So we retreated and left the battle field.

We returned to our base completely shocked. We had been send to fight magic without ever even learning anything about it. We send a messenger from the base to inform the king that we had returned to our base and that a large portion of the army had died. We waited days but the messenger did not return. So I decided to go to the king myself, I still owed him a good punch to the face too. Being as strong as I am now I do not doubt that I will be able to kill him with ease, even if I don't intend to do so. So I headed back for the castle, ran into the throne room and walked up to the king. As I walked in I noticed the messenger standing next to the king, fear written all over his face. So I grabbed the king by the neck and held him up in front of my face "Did you miss me, your majesty?" I whispered to him sarcastically. The king looked at me as proud as ever as he tried to lean closer to me he then yelled "GUARDS" To our surprise no guards enter the room. Seeing this as my chance I readied my fist but the second I tried to hit him the doors opened and prince August walked in. In surprise I dropped the king to the ground and just waited for something to happen. We stood there for a few seconds and then some guards walked in. The king looked up happily and immediately pointed at me "There he is take him away" The guards completely ignored every word he said and they walked right up to him. They grabbed him by the arms and took him away, the king yelled that he should be freed but the guards didn't listen "Lock him up" The prince ordered the guards.

"You are just the person I had been seeking. Aleck right, I have been wanting to ask you something" I nod and wait for his question but before he could ask it my mother came into the room, she ran up to me and hugged me and she said "I have missed you so much, you have grown so much in the time we spend apart. I can't believe I couldn't be there for your 18th birthday" She held me in her arms for a pretty long time and she even cried. The prince interrupted us with a cough "I still haven't asked him yet Odesia". My mother steps away and wipes her tears "Aleck will you be the leader of my army?" I can feel that the prince is sincere and so I feel that I should give him an honest reply "I am very sorry but I do not intend to return to the army" I bow to him and walk up to my mother. She takes me by the hand and we leave the room.

"I am so sorry you had to go through that, it's all my fault I should have known" My mother tells me how the king had plans to take control of a empire filled with magicians. She also told me that the prince had come to put a stop to it and that that is why the king is now locked up. The prince intends to take over the castle and that he wants to become a new and better king. She also told me that everyone in the castle already agrees with it.

The prince became king and I realized that my prayers had been answered even though many had still suffered I had survived and had seen my mother again. So from that day on I decided to believe, to believe that there was more than the eye could see. I took up my sword and bow and left the castle, I waved my mother goodbye and headed out on my adventure. I decided to look for things I hadn't heard of and for things I didn't know yet, I decided to look for signs that my god was still looking over me. On my quest to find my savior, god or goddess, I ended up in the first town I would visit on my long journey. I went into the first shop I found and quickly noticed books all around me. I saw topics I had never heard of and I saw books of languages I couldn't even imagine existed. I found myself amazed by the things I didn't know yet, so I picked up a few books and started reading. My journey became not only a quest to find signs of my savior above but now also to learn more and find new knowledge.
