The Deck Thief: Part 2

Alexis POV

"I can't believe we actually get to see Yugi's deck in action again," I muttered to Zane, who was standing next to me as we watched the whole scene take place in front of us, as we hid behind the bushes. "And against Jaden no less."

Zane nodded. "That guy doesn't cease to amaze me. He sure has proven to be an unpredictable duellist during his time here. I wonder if he can prove to be successful in defeating Yugi's deck, or who knows? He might actually suffer his first official lost."

"Don't say that," I scolded, snapping my head at him. "Of course Jaden is going to win. If anyone has a chance at beating it, it's him. I mean, out of everyone who knows Yugi's deck, it's Jaden who knows it best since he's gone against it."

Zane didn't say anything, but he seemed to ponder my words. Behind us, I could see several other students gathered around to watch the duel take place, waiting to see what move Jaden would make. Just now, he had managed to summon Elemental HERO Neos to the field during Dimitri's turn, a move that not even Dimitri himself thought was possible. On his side, he had Dark Magician and Obnoxious Celtic Guardian on his team, but I knew he'd call of his attack since it would mean that he would lose his best monster. Sure, Dimitri was trying to impersonate Yugi, but Jaden was right on what he said. You've got to believe in your own deck, not someone else's.

"Right then, it's my go!" Jaden said, drawing his card. "I summon Card Trooper in attack mode!"

(Card Trooper - 400/400)

"And thanks to his special ability, by sending the top three cards of my deck to the graveyard, I can increase my Troopers attack strength by five hundred points, for each card sent this way. So that means my Trooper gets an extra fifteen hundred points, making it stronger than your Obnoxious Celtic Guardian."

(Card Trooper - 1900/400)

"Next, I activate my face down magic card - Neos Force!" Jaden said, revealing his spell. "Thanks to this, my Elemental HERO Neos gains an extra eight hundred attack points, plus a wicked effect: when it destroys a monster in battle, the attack points of that destroyed monster is dealt to you as damage!"

"But that would mean that-!" Dimitri said in shock.

"Exactly. You're in for a lot of point damage. But instead of just talking about it, let's get to it shall we? Neos, attack Dark Magician with Cosmic Crush!"

Jaden's monster surged forward with an aura of orange fire, and was about to collide into Dimitri's Dark Magician, but it appeared that Dimitri was ready for that move, because he smirked.

"How predictable," he said. "I activate my facedown trap card: Mirror Force! When you attack me with a higher up monster, I can activate this card to destroy all face-up attack position monsters on your field!"

To my shock and worry, all of Jaden's monsters got blasted into dust, much to Jaden's annoyance.

"When Card Trooper is destroyed and sent to the graveyard, I get to draw one card from my deck," he said calmly, drawing his card. I could tell that he didn't appreciate Dimitri destroying his ace monster: I could tell by the way his eyes flared at Dimitri.
