Chapter 16: I'm Right Here

Nashi's POV:

"AHHHHH!" I screamed as I jolted up in my bed. Where was I!?

"Nashi! You're awake!" Rosebud smiled.

"W-where am I?" I asked, still panicked.

"You're in the Fairytail infirmary!" She explained. "You might want to go see Kaito! He's been worried about you." Rosebud added as my mouth gaped open in shock.

"Y-you mean h-he's not dead!?" I cried as tears rolled down my face and Rosebud looked at me confused.

"Here's fine thanks to you! He went grocery shopping a little while ago!" Rosebud exclaimed and I jumped out of bed and ran as fast as I could towards the town. I stumbled over rocks and twigs on my way. I breathed heavily as tears continued to fall down my face. I-is this real!? I kept running until I saw Kaito holding a paper bag full of groceries. I looked in shock as he turned to me and smiled.

"Oh! You're awake!" He exclaimed as he put down the bag and walked towards me. He had a bandage around his arm but that was it. I began to sob again while I ran towards him and hugged him tight. I cried into his shoulder as he held my head. "Is everything alright!?" Kaito asked confused. I pulled away slowly.

"I-I thought you were dead!" I cried as I plunged my head back to it's spot on his arm.

"It's okay! I'm right here! You have nothing to worry about!" He squeezed me tighter and this made me feel better, a lot better. I took a breath and pulled away from our hug.

"I'm sorry, I guess it was just a bad dream but..it felt so real!" I explained and Kaito looked at me.

"Weird, that sounds awful..if you were gone I--" Kaito couldn't finish his sentence because he was choking up.

"How's your arm?" I asked, trying to change the subject so I wouldn't start crying again.

"Not bad! Despite what happened, it still went better then Tomo and my first job!" Kaito laughed as he remembered.

"What happened!?" I asked with a smile as we began to walk back to the guild hall.

"Oh! It was hilarious! Tomo and I were 13 and we went on this mission but our client was in a strip club! We were scared, not to mention this." Kaito explained as he pulled up his pant leg to reveal a huge scar.

"What happened!?" I questioned as Kaito began to chuckle.

"That's a really funny story!" He told me about how adventures with Tomo and all the missions they went on and it made me happier than ever to be here. I can't get past it, that dream, hallucination, whatever that was, it was so real. There was no denying it that was freaky! I have to find out what that was, what that meant. I asked Kaito where the best place was to find out what this crazy dream meant and he told me about this house in a tree in the woods. I walked towards where spot where Kaito said it would be and it was there, just like he said a house was built into a tree. It was small but seemed big compared to the smaller trees that surrounded it. Kaito said that the woman who lived there and she really disliked people, but she was my only hope to find out what was going on. I knocked on the door and got no answer. I knocked again and just add I was finished an angry looking woman with white hair stormed out of the tree house.

"What do you think you're doing!?" The lady yelled as her eyebrows twitched.

"I was just knocking on the door!" I answered as she scowled at me.

"Typical humans! What do you want!?" She asked angrily.

"I need you to interpret a dream I had." I answered and she rolled her eyes in my direction.

"Great! Another one of these! Come in and I'll help you, but I better be getting paid!" She yelled as she opened the door and I stepped in. It was a cozy house with a bunch of potions on shelves and one bed at the side of the room. "Lay down!" She ordered and I did what she said. She took this potion off the wall and gave me some. The second it hit my stomach I went into a horrible flashback, it was my whole dream from start to finish but it was sped up. I breathed heavily when it was over. I felt my face and my fingers became wet with tears. The woman wrote something down on a piece of paper.

"So, what does my dream mean!?" I asked as she looked up from what she was writing.

"This kind of dream could mean many things but the one I'm most concerned about is that it might be a future event." She explained as my heart dropped.

"Wait! You mean that Kaito's going to die!" I began to cry and she became more grumpy than before.

"I'm not certain but I'm pretty sure." She explained further.

"So what can I do to prevent this!?" I asked hoping there was something I could do.

"Here," the woman exclaimed as she reached on her shelf and pulled a tiny vile on out of it. "Take this, if you take it you will go back in time 24 hours. Wait until you absolutely need it because after 24 hours what's done is done and there's nothing you or I can do about it." The lady explained further I nodded and sat on the bed while she tended to other things. "WHY AREN'T YOU GONE YET! YOU HAVE WHAT YOU WANT!" She yelled as I said thank you and left the house in the tree and headed back to the guild. I hope I never have to use this but boy am I glad that I have it, just in case. I was deep in thought all the way back and when I got back I was scared, I don't know why but I couldn't escape this feeling of hopelessness.
