I walk into the lounge room and fall onto a beanbag. I can hear Jasmine and William talking in the kitchen, and knowing it's required not to intervene with partners talking in private I turn to the screen mounted on the wall. School news, just great.

"Today is the exciting social for The Academy's 3rd year students! First will be the dancing and the talking, then later in the day the battles will occur. Normally they're only one on one but at this social you get to fight actual students with your partner! We will be live again during the battles where everyone at school is allowed to come and watch."

The screen goes blank and I close my eyes just to think of anything but this social. "Oh good you're out of your cave! Come on let's go get ready." Jasmine says and grabs my wrist, dragging me back up the stairs.

After I walk into our closet she slams the door shut. I walk to the middle of the room and stand there while she gets our vanities ready. I walk to my closet and push several buttons before pulling my dress out.
As soon as I put it on I turn around and Jasmine is already dressed and waiting at my vanity. "I'm coming I'm coming."

After a long frustrating hour of Jas arguing with me about which hairstyle I should go with, we successfully stand infront of the mirror side by side. Our empire dresses match, red and gold.
I always admired her storm magic, but altogether hated it because it was the same magic my student enemy wields.

Her hair was up in braided bun that I had worked on for a long time, and a golden ribbon wrapped around it with the loose ends dangling down the back.
I had my hair down and wavy, I never liked anything too extra, if that was even possible.

"I did an amazing job, especially on the make up." She says gleefully and I groan.

We spent fifteen minutes arguing most likely, until I finally gave in realizing she would never give up an argument. "This is a big event and you know you hate the idea of feeling underdressed or overdressed. Trust me, everyones going to be all fancied up so promise you will keep the make up on for me." She turned to look at me with pleading eyes.

"Alright fine, I can't say no to you Jas." I laugh and she hugs me jumping up and down.

"Oh! Let me grab our shoes." She hurries over behind the couch picking up the shoes and racing back over to me.

She hands me dark red slippers that look like sandals. I pull them on and she ties the long silky laces that wrap around my legs looking like fire in a way. "Wow this is surprisingly comfortable. Thanks Jas!" I stand up and walk around adjusting them.

"Oh it's nothing, thank me later," she puts on golden high heels and races out the door.

I exit behind her and she races down the stairs to Will who was waiting at the bottom. I walk into my room as they leave the house and shut the door behind me leaning against it.
"Look who's finally ready." Kit says, walking back in from the balcony.

"Yeah yeah, come on let's go." I say walking over to my bed, throwing the covers back where they belong pathetically attempting to make it.

"Oh hey you actually dressed up." He says, grinning while closing the balcony doors and locking them.

"It was Jasmine's doing. You know how she is. Good job to you for not getting dressed last minute by the way." I tease him, opening the door and heading toward the stairs.

"It's the grand social, I wouldn't miss it for the world." He mocks Jas while fixing his suit.

It was dark ocean blue, a color he usually doesn't prefer to wear. I'm used to the light blue shirts and navy pants for his uniform but you know, Kit is strange.
I lock the backdoors and meet him out in the front porch, locking it behind me.

We walk down the path until we reach the center of our house district. I touch the crystal after he does and close my eyes. Feeling my hair lift up slightly and then fall back down I open them and stand back from the crystal.
The teleportation crystals can only take you to the Academy or to your house district. It's quite handy, unless you want to walk several miles to get to school everyday.

"Are you ready?" He says, his eyes sparkling with excitment.

"Ready as I'll ever be." I say taking in a deep breath nervously.

"Excellent," He says and we start to walk to the steps of the long awaited, grand social.
