The year was 1981 in the small town of Aston. Sarah Dennis was sat huddled in her bed, shivering from a combination of the cold damp air and the fear that was growing stronger by the second. The fear felt like a huge knot in her stomach, the feeling she was going to throw up became more intense as she noticed the small wisp of black smoke by her door. She knew it was coming, she knew she couldn't escape this time. She hadn't slept for over a week, the longer she went the more the tiredness gripped her.
The room began to grow black as the smoke slowly entered her room and sleep took over. Sarah tried to fight to stay awake, she was terrified of letting him get her, the further she fell into the dark abyss of sleep the tighter the knot in her stomach became.
Finally sleep took over, the room went black, Sarah knew this was the final time she would close her eyes. The fear grew stronger and she felt a pang of sadness as she thought about her family and how this would affect them. All this crossed through her mind in a matter of second before she could see the wispy black smoke filling her mind.
As the smoke began to settle she could see the white hollow unseeing eyes of the creature that had terrorised her dreams for weeks. More of the creature began to appear, she could see the thin severely malnourished body. She could count every rib and see every horrendous bone, the sight of it made her feel sick. She saw the metal claws that were implanted along his forearm and replacing the space where its fingers should have been. She saw the bright red blood dripping off the claws as it stared right into her soul.
The pure soul of a young 12 year old child that it craved so much, to it she was just another soul to add to the collection. The creature beaconed her, drawing her very soul closer to him. It grabbed her soul with the long metal claws knowing fully well that young Sarah could feel what it was doing. It ripped its long claws through Sarah's soul before crouching down and devouring it. Once it had finished the feast it finished off its mark on her leg, the mark that would soon be well known throughout the town, the mark that everyone will fear. With that it disappeared in search of another child, a pure child.
The news was filled with different reports of what happened to Sarah for years after she was found by her mother. Her poor parents appealed for any information, but none ever came forward. An autopsy was performed a week after she died, however, no cause of death was ever identified. For the town of Aston it was an unsolved case that would be filed away for the next 4 years before it ever resurfaced again.

~1995~Jack Hudson knew all about the death of a young girl, he knew everything about it through his own research and through his father who was one of the cops who were first on the scene. His dad no longer worked in the force, the death took a toll on him, a toll that maybe affected him worse than anyone would have ever known. Jack knew that his father wasn't the only one affected, the entire police force was affected and so many quit, so many couldn't handle the thought of them failing the young girls family.
Jack had a feeling he knew what terrorised her, he had a feeling the circle on his leg had something to do with it. He remembered his dad showing him a photo of the mark they found on Sarah, the circle was exactly the same except hers had a cross through it. Jack knew that whatever had marked Sarah and attacked her was coming after him. However, what Jack didn't know was that there was no way he could escape the creature and that no matter what he was going to die.

Travis Dawson lived 3 streets away from Jack, they had never physically met but attended the same school. Travis had heard rumours about Jack, rumours saying he had been 'marked'. Travis wasn't 100% sure what it meant, but he had a feeling deep down that it had something to do with the mark that appeared on his leg a few days ago.
He remembers seeing black smoke in his dream, he remembers the bright white glaring eyes that looked directly into his soul and made fear grip him like nothing had ever scared him before. The creature was horrifying. Travis remembers waking up and the mark was on his leg, he was confused but thought the mark may have had something to do with what he saw in his sleep.
The face of the creature was on Travis' mind 24 hours a day, every time it crossed his mind the fear grew stronger and Travis became more fearful to go to sleep. The thought of going to sleep scared Travis but he knew that not sleeping would just make his school work suffer and he really didn't want that to happen.
---------------------------------------------------------
School had been closed for a week because of the spring holiday. Travis was looking forward to going back and throwing himself back into his studies and hopefully forgetting the awful face that he saw in his dreams.
The morning went by faster than Travis had wanted it to, he knew that sooner or later school would be over and it would be time for him to go to sleep. Lunch approached and Travis decided he wanted to approach Jack for the first time in his life.
Travis sat in the canteen looking around for Jack, he scanned the room repeatedly until his eyes fell upon jack who was sat 2 tables away from his. He slowly got up and excused himself from his table then approached Jacks table while his friends watched on confused.
"Hi jack, my name is Travis and I would like to speak to you about something, if that's okay?" Travis sounded very nervous but went through with it anyway. He watched confusion cross over Jacks face before he smiled and stood up saying "Sure thing buddy. Nice to meet you." With that they walked out the canteen into a quiet area in the hallway to speak privately. "Jack, I heard you've been...marked." Travis said nervously. "Yeah, why?" Jack chuckled.
Travis slowly pulled up his trouser leg to reveal the messy circle. "Is this what it looks like?" Travis whispered, fear clearly audible.
"Oh my god..."
