Pretty lies

People string out ribbons of pretty words
They twist them into what they think I want to hear
But it's not about what I want
It's not about me.
It's about everyone else.
The way that lies fall from their mouths so easily,
The way the wrong words fall from your tongue so freely.
We all know that honesty causes some type of destruction.
And we get hit by the debris
I guess the lies soften the blow, buy us time at the very least
But you don't understand
No one understands.
You don't get to paint a pretty sunset
Out of the wasteland in front of you.
You can't sugarcoat the truth, because it's only a matter of time before the sugar dissolves, and the bitterness consumes you.
Reality hits, and knocks you down like a train.
Paralyzed with fear and anger and everything bad
Despair
And all at once, you're not okay.
