Caspian Long was in his bedroom Friday afternoon working on his homework when his father came barging into his room.
Drunk, as usual. And pissed, as always.
“You ungrateful little fucker,” his father seethed after slamming the door open hard enough to leave a dent into the wall. “I told you to fucking clean the kitchen!”
He moved to grab Caspian’s arm, but Cas instantly snatched his hand back and cradled it to his body. “Sorry! I just-- I wanted to do my homework. I’m sorry. Sorry.”
“Oh, you'll be sorry, you stupid fucker!” He slurred.
And then he swung at Cas.
Luckily, he was able to duck down at the last second and his father’s fist hit the wall. He looked at his father with hurt and unshed tears.
“Dad…”
Cas didn’t even know why he called him ‘dad’ anymore.
Caspian’s father looked from his fist to the wall to his son, just a slight tinge of remorse in his eyes before it was once again clouded by a drunken rage. “Get out. Get out. Get your ungrateful ass out of my fucking house!”
“But, dad--”
“You’re fucking lucky I can’t hit you. Lucky. Now get out before I test your luck,” he yelled, spit nearly flying at how angrily he spoke the words.
Looking at the man he referred to as ‘dad’ one last time, Cas grabbed the schoolwork that had been spread out on the desk and his faded blue hoodie. Then, without looking back, he fled the room with unshed tears still in his eyes.
Bursting into the warm air outside, Cas looked around frantically wondering where exactly he could go.
He did not take note of the overcast sky, the fat raindrops falling, or even the strong force of the wind hitting him from what felt like all angles.
He glanced at his questionably rusty bike.
I wonder if the school is still open…
He hopped onto his rickety bike and pedaled rapidly to the school to discover that, yes, it was still open.
Stepping into the silent and empty hallway, Cas couldn’t help but feel as though he needed to tiptoe, even if no one else was there. Recalling the comfortable chair his AP Calculus teacher uses, he started walking toward the class when he realized maybe he wasn’t alone in the school after all.
There was a figure approaching Caspian.
Maddox Rosales. Resident rule breaker and all around jerk, according to legend.
Maddox was casually strolling in Caspian’s direction, backpack slung over his shoulder.
Son of a Dalek…
This should be fun.

What did y'all think??
I honestly think Caspian is my favorite so far.
New in my life:
-I might have a new 'like' interest in my life. He's kinda an asshole but he's really nice to me so idk...like tonight we had our fall fest and it was mum day. We stayed after to do the haunted house and it was a little cold so he let me wear his jacket. Then when we were doing our haunted house shifts he kept offering to get me a chair and switching out my warm water for a new bottle. Idk what to think?Anyway, next update soon.
