Your POV

You have just finished a rescue mission. The dust shining in the lights of the day. You sat beaten by the work. You looked as a mother carried her child through the rubble, the father looking back at her. You finally got up. The last of the fallen attack survivors going to the farm.

You called your ship and flew back home. To the Tower. You landed and yawned. Guardians bustling about to where they need. You just went through the doorway down into the dorms. You walked into the petite room and remove your armor. Your cloak was banged up and you needed a new one.

"Ill do it later..." the devil inside told you to sleep and procrastinate. So you did. After awhile, you enter a dream...

"Honey?" "Yeah?" You respond to the staircase.  "Can you do me a favor?" The familiar voice sounds. You walk up the stairs into the bedroom. What you saw....

You woke up in shock. A cold-sweat wreaked your body. You took deep breaths calming down. You hear knocking at your door. "Who is it?" "Its Cayde." You sigh and fix yourself up a bit. "Come in."

Cayde peeks in with a bundle of cloth in his arms. "Morning (Y/N). I come bearing gifts." You fight a grin at his weird behavior. "And that is?" He unfolds it revealing a black and red cape. Identical to his. "I found your old cape in the garbage; a hunter isn't a hunter without one, so...." You smile at his generosity.

"You really didn't have to! I-....thank you Cayde." "Wow! I didn't know you could smile!" "Your in rarified air Cayde. Relish it while you can." You grin. "C'mere." Cayde walks up to you hesitantly. You sit up and wrap your hands around his form. Pulling him into a hug.

He hugs back. "your welcome sweetie."
"...wait. What?"  Cayde seemed to fluster. "N-no! I meant it in a friendly way!" "Sure you did. Now get out; i need to get dressed."

"Alright. Ill be seeing you round (Y/N)." "Don't call me that." "Yeah sure whatever." He leaves. You finish your armor and look to the cape on the bed. You pick it up and can smell...Cayde. Its like a very familiar yet faint cologne.

You kinda liked it. You fling it over your shoulders and put the hood up. Your ghost flying off the nightstand. "So whats for today?" You shrug now outside of your dorm. You walk through the tower to Shaxx.

"Ah! One of the finest hunters i know! How about some crucible?" You nod and put on your helmet. "I want a challenge." Your voice resonates. Hes taken aback but honored you trust him. "Say no more!"

You return. Its 1:37 AM and you are sore, beaten and bruised. You sigh and open your door. "Hey hey! Wait!" Cayde comes running down the hall. You slowly turn on a limping leg.

"Where have you been?!" "Woah. Your not my mom...calm down." "I thought you got hurt! You didn't answer any of my transmissions!"

You turn into your room and take off your helmet, slumping onto your bed. "Eh......" your voice goes purposely hoarse. He sighed. "Why do you suddenly care anyway?" "Well, I—....actually have nothing. You caught me off guard with that one."

Your tired eyes look to him. "Sure." He sits at your bed. "Is that..a black eye? What were you doing? I want to know!" "It was just a bit of crucible! Besides, it'll heal, mom." You respond.

"Sorry i just am really glad your around and what you did. I just want the best for you." You sit up and look at him. Your deadpan expression unfolds and crumbles.

You wrap your arms around him tightly; as if he would disappear as silent tears begin their decent. "Why are you so nice to me?- i don't deserve it!" He hugs back rubbing your shoulders. "Hey...calm down." "You are the only person I've ever met to be so caring, and funny and overall a great person like you, Cayde! Ive been so cold for so long. Such a lone wolf...and now you're just treating me like a treasure! Why..."

"You consider me as a person...no one does. And now you're in my life and—ill do anything to protect that. You have showed me so much with so little, (Y/N). I go through so many names; but yours will be one to remember..." He was surprisingly warm you notice as he continued to praise you. It was a weird feeling. You haven't felt before; no one had been nice enough to do so.
