After that day I watched everything I ate said, or did. I even started to put my family into question. Everyday I was constantly worried. I began to lose sleep over it and skipped a few (questionable) meals. Finally, Soro and H confronted me:
"What has been going on lately?" H asked.
"Yeah, you are constantly sleeping during lunch hour and we rarely eat or go do stuff anymore."
"I've just been a bit stressed lately."
"About what?" Soro asked suspiciously.
"This whole me being gifted thing. It is a bit much."
She looked irritated.
"What? You've been given a gift. Shouldn't you be grateful?"
"Well I am grateful, but this 'gift' raises so many questions."
"Like what?"
" 'Like' everything I have ever known. I mean are you two even telling the truth?"
H's expression hardened, seeming less and less understanding.
" 'Telling the truth?' What else would be the explanation for this."
"Well I-"
"No, Kimchi. I understood your insecurities at the start; when you performed the test. But now? Still? What do you think a better explanation for this is? Hallucination? Drug induced dreams? What?"
"Hallucinations seem very probable," I respond. H's tone rose so much in just that short period of time, it was startling.
"Look, Chi. I hate to be so short with you but you need to trust us on this one. When have we fooled you before on something this serious?"
"There has never been something this serious."
"Oh my god Kimchi!" Soro began to yell. "You really need to get over yourself. There is no reason for you to doubt us; we wouldn't lie to you like that. Plus, you aren't the only special one here!"
"What is your problem with my worrying?" I finally shouted at them both.
Soro's face was appalled. Her surprise quickly turned into rage.
"I know that you think you're some special little sunshine but you aren't! Okay?! Both Hana and I can see the breakers and coders better than you can, and quite frankly, if you weren't gifted there would be ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE!" She spit the last part out with lethal venom. I got up from where we were sitting in the courtyard and began to leave. I heard H tell her to go apologize only to have her refuse rudely.
Tears began to burn in my eyes and cloud my vision. I blinked them away. When I finally arrived home, Mom was already home. Jun Ho wasn't.
It was just me and mom at the table. My stomach was almost as upset as I was.
"Kimchi, why haven't you touched your food? Do you not like the spaghetti that I made? I thought you liked it with saus-"
"I'm not hungry. Okay Mom?" I snapped.
"Go to your room."
I got out of my seat and stomped up the stairs.
"Come back down when you are ready to be nice."
I sat in my room wanting to throw stuff and break stuff but only laying in bed fuming with rage. I finally cooled down enough to doze off. When I woke up there was someone on my window sill.
"They suck don't they?" It said.
