I looked at the needle and thought about it for a second. Maybe if I put it in at the right angle it won't hurt my eye. I took the needle and opened my eye as widely as I could and began closing the gap between the needle and my eye. I could hear a soft pop as the needle entered my eye. I thought it would hurt. H and Soro looked proud as I pulled it out.
"Why didn't it hurt?" I asked. My body felt powerful all of a sudden. H clapped and began explaining what just happened:
"In this world, or false reality as we call it, there are fillers, breakers, and then regulars. The fillers are the so-called administrators of this world. The presidents, the prime ministers, the governors, the absolute rulers, all of those aren't even real people, let alone humans. They are simply well programmed AI's that know the exact lay out of each other's coding and can predict what will happen and how they can fix any mistakes. The breakers are the rogue beings outside of this falsehood that have the ability to breakout of the real world and infiltrate ours. Some of which do this only at specific times, in specific scenario's etc. Then there are regulars. Some of which are like us who are gifted enough to see everything, and others are like our family members or friends that are completely oblivious to such events. Most fillers are able to catch those who fall out of line like us and wipe away any chance of their gift. In fact most fillers can wipe that trait out at birth."
"But how did we get here?" I ask.
"In your mind there is a sort of 'safe haven' in which people of this era have brought themselves into. The actual reality that goes on outside of the 'safe haven' is invisible to them. Even to you and us. But to the elders who hopefully, you'll meet down the line, they can instantly tell the difference between fillers, breakers, and regulars all the time."
"So that...thing that was in my room last night was a breaker?"
Soro nodded.
"Can you guys tell the difference between everything?"
"No but most of the time breakers and fillers are pretty obvious."
I began to realize all the many times that something odd had happened and I just passed it off as something different. That whatever scary thing I had seen were just a figment of my imagination. But in truth it wasn't and all of that was real. It was frightening.
"Are you willing to join us? It is okay if you are scared."
"I am scared," I said. "But I am brave, too."
Continue onto part 7.
