Jeremy's POV
I opened my eyes then stretched. I fell asleep on the couch, I'm on the floor now. I rubbed my eyes and looked around the room. Nala and her friends and... Boyfriend, who I already don't like, were already out working. Chavo and Peezle were asleep on the other couch, leaning on each other. I got a couch to myself because I'm the youngest. Sometimes I feel overly protected, but it's whatever.
"Morning Jeremy," Tato greeted walking in to grab something, "how ya feelin'?"
"Still tired... A little sore."
"Well, if you come to the front, we can get you some coffee." He replied leaving room.I stood up and stretched again checking the time. 8:30. I sighed and made my way to the front.
The place was surprisingly busy, and smelled great. It looked beautiful and bright, maybe it's just the way I see it. I honestly just had to think for a minute.
"Good morning, Jeremy." Nala greeted yawning and wiping the counter. Her hair was a little messy, and she had changed from what she was wearing to black jeans and a black shirt with a green design on the corner that said "The Coffee Kingdom".
She obviously noticed me staring when she laughed and said, "Cheesy name I know, but it's catchy."
"Haha, yeah.." I sat in one of the stools at the counter.
"Coffee?" She offered.
"Yeah, I'll take some."
"Want some creamer or something?"
"No, thanks." I smiled.
She smiled and poured a cup for me and gave me a little brownie.
"Thanks."
"No problem"
She continued to work, making coffee, writing orders, giving out treats. She just seemed so... Happy."Morning Jeremy." River said plainly, obviously only being polite.
He wrapped his arms around Nala and kissed her on the cheek, looking me dead in the eye. Bastard.
"Morning River." I replied laughing and folding my arms.
"Baby, I'm working!" Nala giggled.
"So am I," He sighed and let go, "I gotta leave soon though."
"What? Why?"
"I gotta go see someone. Cover for me if the old people come in."
"Okay... I guess. But where are you-"
"Thanks babe." He replied cutting her off happily, practically skipping out the door."You don't wonder where he's going... What he's doing?"
"Yeah, well, no. I don't know."
"I would. . . I think it's fucked up how he's making you cover for him." I said honestly.
"I don't have that big of an issue with it."
"'That big'? That definitely means it bothers you."
"Sometimes," She shrugged, "It's whatever though."
"I mean. . . I wouldn't treat you like that. Metaphorically speaking of course. I'd tell you everything. Because you deserve and have right to know." I took a sip of coffee.
She paused for a second and blushed very visibly. "I-I mean he doesn't treat me bad or anything he-he just..." She barely stuttered out.
I laughed and took a bite of my brownie.
"You're adorable." Was all I said before Tato came and joined our conversation. Great.Nala's POV (A/N UGH... Tato will understand)
"Hey Nala, where's River?" Tato asked coming up to the counter.
I decided to just shake off what just happened and not think about it to the best of my ability.
"He's out doing something, I dunno. . . Hey have you notice something different today?" I asked.
"Like..."
"I dunno... It just seems brighter... Happier? I don't know just different."
"Kinda... Yeah," He agreed, "maybe it's because of Jeremy." He suggested.
Jeremy raised an eyebrow, "Why?"
"You control elements n' shit, maybe you brought sunlight to the café."
"It kinda makes sense." I agreed.
"So... I'm the light of your life?" He winked.
"Oh lord, that pick up line makes me wanna jump off a cliff." Tato laughed, giving someone their coffee.
"Fuck you Tato, it was fantastic." Jeremy argued.
I just slowly backed out of the conversation and went into the back room."Morning Chav, morning Peezle." I greeted sitting on a couch.
"Good morning."
