Author's Note: Hey guys, sorry for not writing anything in a LONG while, but I'm back (sorta). This poem was written based of a book for an English assignment. The book is Tuck Everlasting written by Natalie Babbitt. And I have another poem earlier in the book based on this book as well (it's the one about fearing death). Well anyway, on to the poem--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Young love.
A connection between
two youthful souls.
A connection that's
unexplainable.
A connection that's
thought to last forever.
A connection that's
doomed from the start.
A connection built on
lust.
No matter what one
believes, it always
ends in tragedy.
There comes a time
when the true colors of the
relationship surface.
When the connection begins to
become reality.
There are people who
flee in fear of companionship
or in sight of a game.
The abandoned are left
to bleed tears and
remove the sledgehammer
from their heart
Those who flee
may never understand
the consequences of their
actions while they
become a memory
in the review mirror of time.
As the forgotten move
forward in the pursuit
of happiness,
the departer wanders
back to the nest
to find the roles reversed.
