 Dean, Dean got expelled. The first week into the third year. I remember it very well. I remember running and screaming. He was expelled for protecting me. For protecting me! I got mugged, by some awful Slytherin. A singular Slytherin. I was so weak. He, Dean, found me just in time. He used an imperious curse on the Slytherin. He was expelled almost immediately. He only had time to say good-bye. Briefly. 

  As soon as he was gone, muggle-born students started to disappear. I was scared, desperately scared. I didn't have Dean to help me, to give me courage and strength. Not anymore. I didn't know my blood-status. I was an adoption, by an adopted couple, who were both adopted children of adopted parents. My blood-line, as far as I knew, was a mess of muggle-borns and other magical creatures. So, why had I not disappeared?

  I didn't want to disappear. I needed Dean back, to help me. But, I couldn't have him back, so I sent him a letter.

  I won't say what I wrote in that letter, because now, that this is all over and as I am looking back on it, I believe that this information is strictly mine and Dean's.

    But, I will say that when I got his reply, no more than a week later, it gave me mixed feelings towards what could be taking place. Now, we did of course know that the Basilisk was dead, which meant it could not be that, but it could be any number of other things. Dean told me that he had a feeling it was not just one thing, but maybe two or three, things. This did not help my nerves. However, he did tell me where he had put the Marauders Map before he left. This information worried me greatly. It made me wonder, if I even knew the person I thought was Dean Novak.

    He had hidden the Map, in the Chamber of Secrets.

  That flipping, irrational, son of a bird watcher!   At the time, I could not believe it. I knew full well that Dean was curious about the Chamber of Secrets, but never had I ever imagined he would get into the Chamber. But apparently he had. I remember, that I thought for several days on that particular matter. During those days, I wrote down the names and houses of those who had disappeared.

    One for everyday since Dean had left. Then, another three for the days I was pondering my situation, over-thinking.
