Kaz sighed, suddenly feeling trapped in the tiny aircraft compartment as he waited, waited and waited. The others had taken seats at this point, Oliver was trying to get a signal constantly on his iPhone, Skylar was watching Chase closely since Bree was resting her eyes, everyone making sure both she and Chase were breathing.

Kaz felt horrible. He hated that he couldn't be helpful, he hated the fact his teammate and one of his best friends was laying on those blankets, fighting for his life and his girlfriend had been injured as well. He felt majorly guilty.

He debated making a run for it before darkness fully fell, but from what he had heard multiple times, that would be stupid cause he couldn't make his way back, and the last thing they needed was for Kaz to get lost, not to mention, if Chase woke up and found out he was missing, it could be catastrophic on Chase's condition.

Speaking of Chase, he had been laying very still in the same position as before, and hadn't moved since he passed out.

"I need some air." Skylar suddenly muttered, practically running towards the exit as she stepped outside.

It had gotten very cold since the last time she was out there, but it was the cold that kept her on her toes, the cold reminded her of the late winter nights on Caldera, it only got this cold a few times, but it was nice when it did, since Caldera was a volcanic planet.

She closed her eyes, breathing in deeply through her mouth, letting the cold air enter her lungs, feeling regret knowing Chase couldn't do that as she remembered the smoke they had seen, and how stupid it was to go after it, but, they were heroes. That was their job, even though Chase could now die because of it.

"Chase is still getting fluids." Kaz's voice interrupted. "Bree did a great job."

"Is he still breathing?" Skylar asked as all the worst case scenarios ran through her head. What if Kaz came to tell her Chase was gone? Or Bree's condition had deteriorated?

"He's still out cold. The doctor says that's good, it'll give him recovery time since his body is too stressed as it is, it's a miracle he held on as long as he did. He's strong, Skylar, even when he seems to be in a bad condition."

"He had all of us, which helped a lot, I could tell. What does the doctor think?"

"We need to keep a close eye on him and monitor his breathing, but we can't do much against the fever. Bree woke up and Oliver found more pain meds that she put in the IV, but he's still in a lot of pain, and not much we can do except make him comfortable."

"It's better then nothing."

Kaz ran both his hands through his hair, something he only did when things were bad. "This sucks, you know."

"I know." Skylar smiled sympathetically, placing her hands on his shoulders. "I'm sorry, Kaz."

"Not more then I am." Kaz sighed, turning back to the plane. "We have to turn the lights off. We need the fuel for the radio, cause we can't afford to lose it."

"I think I found some flashlights earlier, we can use those."

"Good idea. Skylar, no offense, but you look like you went through hell and back. Why don't you get some rest?"

"Good luck getting me to sleep. You ain't looking so hot either, Kaz, and you did sprain your ankle, along with breaking your elbow. You should rest."

"Fat chance. We should get back in. It's really cold now that the sun is down."

"And to think we could've been swimming in a pool, surrounded by heaters at this point. Why did we do this to ourselves, Kaz?"

"Cause we cared about the people in the car, after all, we are heroes."

"We should've cared more about Chase."

"He knows we love him. I promise, Skylar."

Inside the plane, Oliver, Skylar and Kaz turned off all the lights off except the flashlights as Jacob's voice filled the plane, explaining emergency vehicles were packed with medical supplies and scouring the large area.

"We also contacted Donald Davenport. He left a hour ago."

"He'll probably be there in three hours." Oliver joked as Kaz added.

"Especially if he takes his "cool" motorcycle that's been sitting in his garage."

Skylar took her spot back beside Chase, gently pushing his spikes back while speaking quietly, but since he was so in and out of consciousness, he probably didn't hear it, it made her feel better if she thought he was listening. Bree leaned back on a seat, not taking her eyes off Chase.

"Just a few more hours guys, we're all rooting for you."

Just at that moment, the roar of mountain lions erupted in the distance.

"You better hurry, or we're gonna end up dinner." Oliver warned as Kaz looked out the window.

"I hate the desert."
