We've been walking for about 30 minutes now finding for some house or something to borrow a phone from but it seems like every house is a 2 hour-walk away from each other. And it seems like we've been strolling in hell with the sun practically burning our skin. Luck is just not with me because I was wearing a thick black shirt, we are all sticky from the coke fight, plus Charity's mouth wouldn't just shut the hell up. "I know its hot Charity; you don't need to tell us every minute. But complaining isn't going to teleport us to Atlanta or something so shut up!" I told her, and just like that she stopped complaining.
"God I am so hungry right now, I could eat you both. Uhh Charity, do you hopefully have something to eat inside that bag of yours" Eli asked, eyes full of hope. "If someone hadn't wasted my can of coke I shouldn't have been this thirsty and hungry" he added, eyeing me carefully. As if to choke me with the 'force'.
"Ooh looks like my junk food could put into use. I've got a pack of Cheetos here with me" She finally said after fishing through her ginormous purse, or is it even allowed to call it a purse because of how big it is.
I didn't know why I hadn't react as to how Eli was so mad about his cola, it could be that I was too happy to think about how it's wasted because of the memory of us three chasing each other while soaked in coke, or was I too hungry to care when I saw the pack of Cheetos Charity was holding. Either way I didn't care at the moment.
As she opened the Cheetos, we then indulged in salty goodness like it was the best food we have ever eaten, like it was the last food on earth, like it was the best gift God has given us, you get the point of how we were practically in-love with that junk foods. I know it sounds exaggerated but for us now it feels true.
Both Eli and I had our hands inside the pack which is now torn by the sides. We stared at each other for a couple of seconds after he yanked his hands away quickly. I swear I heard Charity gave an awkward cough beside us but I ignored it. Something inside me was happy because I got the last of Cheetos but there's this other thing that wanted the contact more than the cheesy goodness. I just ignored the latter "Hah! I got the last piece. Losers" I claimed victory but Charity just smiled and looked at the both of us while Eli was too busy standing up and patting dust on his pants.
We continued to walk and along the way I decided to crack a lame joke, in hope that time would seem fast. "Hey, what did zero say to eight?" I suddenly said.
They looked at me weirdly so I took it as a clue that they didn't know the answer "'hey, nice belt'! Get it? Because the eight looked liked a zero that has a belt?" I said in fits of my laughter.
I realized that I was the only one laughing so I tried again "What's an egg that can fly?" Again silence was all they have given to me but they didn't stop me so I continued "Eggle! Get it? Egg and eagle?" And then as is someone suddenly tickled them they laughed. Finally because I thought I wasn't funny anymore.
"That came out surprisingly funny" Eli said. I pity Eli, he has been with me on 4th grade the year I decided that I wanted to be funny. Some are from the internet and some are made by yours truly. I don't know how he dealt with it because 90% of my jokes are unfunny, except for sarcastic comments. I, myself, hate that my joke are not funny but I don't know why I tell jokes. I guess it comes naturally, bad naturally it is.
Well I went on an on with bad jokes, hearing laughs quit often, but mostly Eli complaining how it was better when Charity complained.
