Chapter 10 - Good News

Reluctantly, I arrived at work ready to begin my 3 hour shift. Work was okay, but I found it a little boring and the main reason for it was to save up for going to London Music College. That is, if I were to get in.

I had my phone slipped in the pocket of my blue jeans, so that I could easily text Joel as I worked. I decided to reply to his earlier one.

If you want your shirt back you're gonna have to come and get it! Last night was fun, would love to see you this afternoon. Ellie xxx

I bit my lip; as much as I really liked Joel and got on with him so well, things seemed to have escalated very quickly since I first met him only two days ago. I wondered whether this was normal, and if it meant Joel was 'the one'. I then thought, well if you want to see him, see him. And I did want to.

Send. There.

Within a minute I had a reply.

Haha ok, I guess that means I will definitely HAVE to see you then ;) and by the way I have good news!!!xxx

I grinned; I couldn't wait to see his gorgeous face, and kiss his lips, and touch his back...

My phone buzzed to signal that I had an email. Given that I didn't really have anything to do, I opened it.

"Oh my God," I whispered to myself. I passed! With distinction! Which meant I could go to London Music College. I switched to my text messages and replied to Joel.

I have good news too!! See you at the park at 2.15 xxx

Going back to my emails, I forwarded the email to Mum. I was still ecstatic at the thought of finally being able to go and study music at the place I had always dreamed of going. And it was all thanks to Joel. He sent a reply:

Awesome!! See you at the park, feels like ages ago we last went there xxx

He was right; even though we went to the park yesterday, it felt like we we'd shared so many moments since then that it became a distant memory. But, I still remember it so vividly.

My first kiss.

I finished work at two o'clock, stopped at a shop to buy lunch, and texted Joel that I was on my way.

I entered the gate of the park cautiously, suddenly aware that the last time I saw Joel I took his shirt off and made him jump out of my bedroom window. But still, I guess it was fun.

I found him sitting on the same bench we had kissed, staring at the children playing on the swings. His mind was clearly preoccupied by something, and I felt rude by disturbing him.
