One o'clock came around too quickly the next day. You had expected the seconds to drag on like hours and each hour to feel like eternity. Instead, the time came for Namjoon to pick you up and you found yourself completely unprepared. You should have been getting ready to leave but instead you stared out the window, completely separate from reality, having wrapped tightly in the bubble you so often found yourself in.

'Y/N.' You felt your father's hand on your shoulder and blinked hard to remove the look of daydreaming from your eyes. 'I know you wrap yourself in your little world when things get hard but wake up now sweetie. Your reality is about to get so much better then those dreams.'

'Dad.' You whispered in the way little girls do when they become terrified of the most trivial of things. You were begging him to take that fear away, in any way he could. But you knew you weren't a little girl anymore and there were things you had to do alone, without your father's hand to guide you. That might just of been the scariest thing. 'How do you know?' You continued.

'Because I know the nightmares that plague those dream worlds of yours and how much they hurt you. There's always going to be pain, sadly that's one thing I can promise you. But you can't go the rest of your life being scared Y/N. You'll be miserable. Open up, let go. It might just be the best thing you ever do.' He kissed you gently on the forehead and your fear began to waver a little. If everything else went wrong, you still had him, and maybe that was enough. You turned to make your way to the door but stopped when you saw Namjoon was already opening it.

'Hi Y/N.' He said upon seeing you.

'Hey.' You replied, the blood rushing to your cheeks at the mere sight of him.

'Hello sir.' Namjoon turned his attention to your father and bowed, lower then was really necessary. You laughed slightly at the dumbstruck look on you father's face. You supposed cultural differences were something both of you might have to get used to.

'Hi, you must be Namjoon.' He rearranged his thoughts quickly and held out his hand for Namjoon to shake, which he did happily. 'Look after Y/N for me this afternoon won't you?'

'I will sir, I promise.'

'See you later then, have fun.'

'Thanks Dad. Call me if it gets busy and you need help okay?' You replied as you took your coat and bag from the hooks behind the counter and walked to Namjoon's side.

'I most certainly shall not.' Your father replied with a smile.

'Did you eat yet?' Namjoon immediately asked as you stepped out onto the pavement. You shook your head in reply. 'Okay, I'll take you for lunch then.' He shot you a wide smile that reached his dimples.

'No, no, it's okay. I don't eat a lot anyway.' You protested, embarrassed at the idea of him buying you lunch.

'All the more reason for us to go. Come on. Please.' His last words took on a begging tone and you couldn't resist that almost adorable twang it added to his voice. You sighed and his grin reappeared as he realised he had won. 'Where shall we go? I've not eaten out once since we got here.'

'Well...' You paused and rearranged your bag on your shoulder as you thought about good places to eat in the area. 'Do you like Japanese food?'

'Of course.' He replied, shoving his hands into the pockets of the bright yellow hoodie he was wearing.

'Okay, let's go this way then.' You pointed to your right and you both began to walk in that direction.

You took each step in silence. You weren't sure if it was because neither of you knew what to say or because you would both rather speak your words over a warm bowl of ramen. But you accepted it, in quiet discomfort.
