I love you

"What are you talking about Riley?" Maya asked in confusion.

"He clearly loves you Maya." Riley placed her hand on Mayas shoulder. "And I know you love him."

Maya looked down and sighed. "Look Riley. Despite your wishes." she sighed again. "He doesn't love me. He didn't ask me out on my birthday when he promised me he would, and even though I do love him, He's never gonna change his mind."

Riley frowned. "Maya" she sighed.

"There's nothing to it Riley. He doesn't love me. Josh moved on. He doesn't want me anymore. I don't think he ever did."

"But he did Maya, and he still does."

"Then tell me this, if he loved me, why aren't we together? He told me we would get together on my birthday, he told me that for weeks, he promised me, and now its 3 weeks after, and I still haven't heard from him. So tell me Riley, does he really love me?" and with that being said, Maya walked away.

It was a Matthews party. A family reunion of some sort. Everyone was there. Katy and Shawn, Riley, Corey, Topanga and Auggie, Mr. And Mrs. Matthews (Riley's grandparents), Morgan and Eric, everyone except Josh.

"I thought he was supposed to be here." Riley whispered to her mother so Maya wouldn't here.

"He is." Topanga replied.

"Then where is he?" Right as she said that the door swung open and in came a smiling Matthews with brown hair and blue eyes. Maya's heart started pounding as her eyes flittered upwards to take a sneak at the Matthews boy, only to be surprised to see him looking back down at her.

"Hey family!" he shouted as he remembered why he was there in the first place. They all greeted him with excitement, but he was soon pulled away by Riley into the back hallway. "Ow Riley what the Hell?!" he whisper shouted, rubbing his yanked arm.

"What exactly did you do?" Riley asked.

"What?" he questioned in confusion.

"Maya is really depressed in case you haven't noticed. What did you do?"

Josh looked down and Sighed. "I got scared."

"I'm sorry what?" Riley asked, annoyed.

"I got scared okay?! I was gonna ask her out on her birthday like I said I was, but then I got scared. I thought she was gonna say no." Josh admitted.

Riley nodded in understanding. "Why would you think that?"

"She just seemed so happy without me Riley. I saw her on Facebook with all of these different people, and she was smiling and laughing and..." he took in a deep breath and looked down. "She just looked so happy without me Riley. I thought she didn't like me anymore." Josh Confided.

Riley frowned, suddenly feeling remorse for her uncle. "Oh Uncle Josh." She sighed and placed a hand on his shoulder. "She still loves you you know. She always did. She was happy because of you, not despite of you. Knowing that you were gonna ask her to be yours one day made her so happy, you don't even understand." That made Josh smile. Riley took her hand off of her uncle and her facial expression turned stern. "You need to fix this. She thinks that you don't love her anymore." She pointed towards Maya, and Josh looked over. His heart dropped, hearing that Maya thought he didn't lover her anymore.

"But I do." he quickly reassured her.

"Then go tell her." Riley commanded.

He nodded and walked towards Maya.  He bent down beside the bench Maya was sat on and poked her thigh. She immediately looked at him, and gave him a sad smile. "Hey." he choked out. "Would you come up to the roof with me for a second? I wanna talk to you." Maya nodded and stood up. She followed him out to the fire escape and up the ladder to the roof. Maya leaned against a pillar and Josh looked at her. He looked down and then back up at Maya. "I heard that you think I don't love you anymore." he said, sadly. She looked up at him and bit her lip. "Maya that's not true." He stepped closer to her. "I love you so much that not even Riley can comprehend it." He stepped closer, and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Then why?" she choked out. "You said You were gonna ask me out on my birthday. I don't know if you checked your calender​ but my birthday was 3 weeks ago, and oh! Would you look at that, I'm still single as a Pringle." She stepped closer to Josh and looked him in the eye. "I have not heard from you in weeks Josh. Where the Hell were you?" she demanded, trying to hold back tears.

"I was scared Maya." he admitted. "I was scared that you were gonna say no, I was scared that you didn't need me anymore..." he grabbed her by her cheeks as a tear slipped out of both of their eyes. "I was scared that you didn't love me anymore."

She looked up into his eyes, and chuckled. "You're so stupid Josh. Of course I love you." He smiled and looked down at her. He leaned in and kissed her, their lips melting together as the kiss intensified. They parted their lips and looked into each others eyes.

"I love you too Maya. Always." She smiled at him, and leaned back in for another kiss. Their lips locked together in a heated passion, proving both of their love for each other.
