It had been 5 years since Maya and Josh got together and Josh was ready to propose. But an issue had occurred; Maya didn't want to get married. "I just don't see the point in it Josh. It's just a piece of paper that legally binds you to someone forever. It's kind of weird when you actually think about it."

"No it's not, you're just afraid of commitment." He scolded, crossing his arms in frustration.

"Yeah, that's why I've been with you for the past five years." she said, rolling her eyes. "What's so wrong with the relationship we have now?" she asked.

"Nothing, I just wanna take it to the next level." he spoke softly, sighing. "I just really love you and I want to prove that to people by marrying you."

Maya smiled. "You can show that in a lot of other ways Josh. I don't need a piece of legal documentation to show I love you." She looked at him and smiled. "Plus the wedding industry is just a big ploy to get big bucks. Like who needs a $10,000 dollar wedding?"

Later that night as Maya and Josh lay in bed, Josh turned around to face Maya. "Is there any part of you that wants to marry me?"

"Maybe a little bit." she whispered, biting her lip. "Baby, I don't want to marry you because I don't love you because I do. I love you so much, I just don't see the point in getting married." She looked at him and saw his dissapointed look. "Our relationship would be the exact same even if we were married, the only difference is that the state would know about it." she chuckled.

"I'm never gonna give this up, you know." he mumbled, shoving his head into the crook of her neck.

"I know and I love you for it." she spoke softly.

"Then marry me!" he whined.

"Josh you don't even have a ring." she said.

He took his head out and looked at her with soft eyes. "I do though." he whispered, staring at her intently.

Maya's mouth dropped. "No you don't." She shook her head. "No, you better not."

He nodded his head. "Yes I do." He turned around and reached into his bedside table, pulling out a small tiny velvet box. He opened it up and inside sat a silver ring with a diamond on it.

"Josh..." Maya whispered, her voice drifting. "You didn't have to..."

"But I did." He looked at her and licked his lips. "Because I love you so much and you make me happy, and you make me angry but in all the good ways I promise. And you're so beautiful and it would be a disgrace if I never even caught feelings for you. The least I could do was get you a ring. You deserve everything good in the world Maya and I want to give you that."

Maya stared at him with adoration. "Oh?" she spoke, reality about just how deep Josh's feelings for her go. "Ask me."

Josh smiled at her. "Will you, Maya Hart, do me the greatest honor and become my wife?" he asked. She nodded her head, smiling.

He looked down and placed the ring on her finger. "I love you, like a lot." he laughed, smiling like an idiot.

"I love you too." She wrapped her arms around his neck. "But only a little bit."

"Oh you're in trouble now." he joked, turning them over so he was now on top of her. She loved him a lot.
