Christmas

"Merry Christmas Losers" 18 year old Maya yelled as she slammed the Matthews front door behind her.

"Maya! Finally you're here!!" Riley screamed as she ran towards her best friend and gave her a hug. "Why are you late?" She asked.

Maya knew she couldn't tell her, it just wasn't the right moment. To be brutally honest though, Its never the right moment to tell your best friend that you're dating their uncle. " It takes a long time to look this good."

Riley shook her head and chuckled. "Whatever, at least you're here now. Hey, did you see Uncle Josh in the lobby, he said he was gonna be here 30 minutes ago." Riley asked.

Maya shook her head. "No I didn't." She was beginning to get really good at this whole lying thing. 

At that exact moment the door bursted open and in came a very cold, very flustered Josh. "Hey Family" he smiled.  He gazed around the room until his eyes caught on Mayas. He gave her a subtle wink, then walked into the kitchen. "Mmm... Smells good Pangers." he smiled.

"I swear all you think about is food and girls." She laughed. "Speaking of." She stopped stirring the mashed potatoes and stepped towards Josh. She licked her finger and rubbed Josh's cheek. "You have some lipstick on your face, who have you been kissing?" she asked. 

Josh laughed hesitantly. "No one Pangers, trust me when I say its probably just marker or something. I mean I was making a poster earlier." 

"You sure?" Topanga asked curiously. 

Josh nodded. "100 percent." he confirmed. Once Topanga stopped rubbing away the "marker" on Josh's, face he quickly walked out of the kitchen and into the back hallway. 

Maya watched as Josh walked back the hallway then turned towards Riley. "I'll be right back Riles." Maya said as she turned towards the back hallway and left Riley.

"But-" Riley tried, but then she saw Josh standing in the back hallway, which just so happened to be the direction that Maya was walking towards. She smirked as she crossed her arms. "Okay Maya. I see what you're doing. Good luck bitch." she whispered to herself as she smiled.

"Hey." Maya smiled as she walked towards Josh. "What are you doing over here?" she questioned. "You look kind of suspicious." Maya laughed.

"Oh I'm not the one's who's suspicious." he stated, seriously. "Topanga is." He stated firmly.

Maya was confused. "What do you mean?" she asked.

"Topanga asked who I was kissing. She wiped your lipstick off my face. She's starting to get suspicious."

Maya's eyes widened in shock. She quickly looked back into the kitchen to see Topanga staring at them, while she stirred the pot of mashed potatoes with a smile plastered on her face. Maya looked back at Josh with a terrified look on her face."Well what did you say?" she asked, impatiently.

Josh sighed. "I said it was just marker."

Maya looked down and chuckled. "Really? That's all you could think of? Marker?" she laughed. Maya stopped laughing as she realized the situation. If Josh really said that it was marker on his face, then Topanga certainly wasn't going to believe him. She probably already knows that something's going on between them. "Oh fuck." Maya face palmed. "Topanga probably knows about us." Maya sighed.

"Dinners ready!" Topanga yelled.

Josh grazed Maya's shoulder. "We'll talk about this later okay?"

Maya nodded in conformation. They walked towards the table, watching as everyone sat down. Maya chose the seat next to Riley and Josh sat in front of Maya, since it was the last seat left, not that he was complaining.

"Merry Christmas everyone!" Cory announced to everyone.

"Merry Christmas!" everyone shouted in unison.

"So" Topanga started making conversation. "What's new Josh?" she asked, staring at him with a devious smile on her face.

"Nothing much." he responded, vaguely. "School's going good, in fact I got a new roommate this year." he remarked.

"Hm" Topanga hummed. "That's good. Any girls you're interested in?" she asked as she glanced over at Josh.

Josh stopped eating. In fact, his mouth stopped moving all together. He looked down, his feet stretching across the floor beneath the table, and intertwining with Maya's. He looked back up, and gave a little chuckle. "Um... I actually am dating someone right now." he confirmed as he took a giant gulp of his drink, hoping to quench the thirst his dried throat was looking for. Maya smiled slightly.

Topanga smiled. "Oh that's good." she crossed her legs and turned to face Josh. "Is it Maya?" she asked, not even giving any warning about what she was going to say.

Josh spat his water out of his mouth and started coughing erratically. *cough cough* "What?" he almost screeched. *cough* "I-" *cough cough* "No." he lied. Maya looked down. The whole scene was enough to make everyone stop what they were doing to look at Josh and see how he was drowning in his own spit... and his words.

She sighed. She didn't think this was how today was gonna go, but then again, does anybody ever know? "We are." she spoke up. This was enough to make even Josh stop what he was doing.

Topanga stood up with excitement. "YES!" she screamed. "I knew it!" She pointed at Riley. "I told you didn't I?! I told you they were dating!" She exclaimed.

Maya looked at Riley. "You knew?"

Riley sighed. "Well I knew you still liked him, and I knew he liked you, I just didn't know you guys were already dating." She placed her hand on Maya's shoulder. "I thought you were going to ask him out today." Riley laughed. Maya laughed with her.

"So you're okay with this? With me and Josh dating?" Maya questioned Riley.

Riley smiled. "Of course I am Peaches. I am your #1 fan." she chuckled.

Maya chuckled with her. "Good." she said. She looked up at Topanga who was still dancing on her chair, swinging about how she was right. "Are you done now?" Maya asked.

Topanga looked down at Maya and smiled. "Yeah." she sighed. She sat down in her chair and gave the couple a smile. She raised her glass, filled to the brim with white wine. "To the new couple." She announced.

"To the new couple!" everyone cheered.
