Chapter 1 - Their Thoughts

I looked at the window while I'm silently sitting inside a bus travelling to the school I study at.

St. Joseph, I always wanted to go onto a different school because I always felt aloof from the students there.

I don't know why but I always have this feeling that I actually don't belong there.

Tumigil na ang bus sa tapat ng school at dahan dahan akong bumaba.

"Dalian mo na Miss! Malelate ka na!" Sigaw nung guard but I stayed at my pace. I was going late but I didn't care at all.

"Good morning." I flatly greeted the guard nung tumapat ako sa kanya ayoko namang maging bastos dahil wala akong balak na sundin yung sinabi niya kaninang magmadali ako, ngumiti lang naman siya bilang response sa plain greetings ko.

'Cold and Expressionless. Reminds me of President Hideo and Mitsuo.' I heard his thought, though I don't have any ideas of what he's been thinking about.

It's kind of weird up until now that I can read someone else's thoughts though only a few people. Like, this girl running towards the same building I go.

"Oh, malelate ka nanaman. Dalian mo!" Sigaw sa kanya ni kuyang guard.

"Opo Kuya!"

Napailing nalang ako nang makalampas si Rainie sa akin at nagtuloy tuloy siya sa third floor.

She's always like that tuwing malelate na siya.

Well typically, normal lang yun sa isang estudyante but I'm different. Wala akong pake sa paligid ko dahil unang una ayoko sa school na ito at sa mga tao rito, pangalawa pakiramdam ko hindi ako belong rito, at higit sa lahat. . . Hindi ako normal.

Pagkarating ko sa room ay wala pa si Ma'am Castro. Tss. Speak of being late.

Walang pumansin sa pagdating ko except for Rainie, she looked at me with her curious eyes and I gave her a cold stare at napaiwas siya ng tingin, with that, ay naupo na ako sa seat ko which is behind Darwin, Rainie's seatmate.

"Saan nagpunta si Ma'am?" Tanong ni Rainie kay Darwin, at pinigilan ko ang sarili kong matawa dahil sa masungit na "Malay ko.," ni Darwin.

'Award winning. Sungit.' Rainie's thought floated on my mind.

'Irritating.' And now it's Darwin's.

It's a mystery to me, how come I can hear their thoughts?

I don't know if it's just me but ever since I met these two I can feel something eerie and unfamiliar from them. They give off a different vibe, something saying that they're not ordinary. Their presences are overwhelming and I don't know how I'd overcome that.

"SORRY MA'AM NALATE PO AKO NG GISING!" Napatingin kaming lahat sa bagong dating and it was Tessa habang nakayuko siya sa may pintuan

"Wala si Ma'am kaya wag kang sumigaw. Ingay mo eh." Nagtawanan naman ang buong klase dahil sa sinabi ni Gerald or Gerard? (Whatever) Well, nagtawanan lahat except the four of us, Darwin, Rainie, and of course Tessa.

Para makaligtas sa ingay na ginagawa nila ay sinalpak ko sa tenga ko yung ear plugs ko and I listened to music at yumuko sa desk. Matutulog nalang ako.

Suddenly napatunghay ako dahil sa thought ni Rainie at nilingon ko si Tessa. I can't see anything suspicious on her shoulder but Rainie surely did see something. Napataas naman ang kilay ko dahil doon habang nakatingin ako kay Rainie. What's with her?

Hindi ko sila marinig sa argumento nila dahil sa lakas ng pinapakinggan ko but I can clearly hear Rainie's thoughts, it's about Tessa's lies.

Bigla naman akong napatingin kay Tessa at sinubukan kong basahin ang isip niya, but to no avail, I can't. It felt like she's different from Rainie, Manong Guard and Darwin kaya hindi ko mabasa ang iniisip niya.

I can clearly read Rainie's thoughts and now medyo nagsisisi siya dahil sa pagconfront niya kay Tessa nang magsimula na itong mainis.

Maya maya pa ay dumating na si Ma'am Castro at umalis ulit sila ni Rainie dahil pinapatawag daw ito ng Principal.

Napataas naman ang kilay ko nang mabasa ko ang isip ni Rainie. Maeexpel siya dahil sa dami ng late records? OA naman pala nito mag-isip. Though, possible naman talaga. Aish bahala na. At yumuko ako sa desk at sinubukang makatulog, hindi naman ako nahirapan dahil inaantok parin naman talaga ako.
