The party was awesome! Bright blinding lights, the smell of booze and Grilled hotdogs and hamburgers. And table filled with plates and other stuff. The pool was packed with people and there was a hype crowd raving all around it. My jaw dropped holding a cup of whiskey in my hands. I was the wallflower of the party...seriously it was sad. I didn't have the confidence to go up and talk to anybody besides Kevin who was up there playing the music. Parties were never my thing. Then a girl walked up to me. It was a little too dark to see her so I only saw her silhouette and her shoulders rub by me.
Diana Jade
She leaned against the wall next to me and started talking. I couldn't really hear her despite the loud noise in the background. A girl with a flashlight shined it on us for a few seconds and then started dancing and laughing. I looked at the girl beside me and she and she looked back at me before the light went away. "I've never seen you before.. are you a freshman?" She asked. "Umm yeah, I'm Jamie," I said with a low quiet tone hoping she couldn't hear me.
Diana quickly glanced at the girl holding the flashlight then back at me. "You're the girl in room 201! Yeah everyone knows your arrival!" The flashlight girl yelled. I felt my heart drop and I tried so hard to smile back. Does everyone know me? How? "I'm confused.... how do you know?" I asked.
"Well duh, there's literally there's a list of new students attending this college at the main hall and Of course, I had to look at the freshies!" The flashlight girl yelled and then kept on partying. Diana giggled and grabbed my wrist. "Its time for you to take a dip! Let's go swimming! Have fun!" She swung my arm and pushed me into the pool. I made a splash so big that everyone at the party noticed! I was deep in the water...I swear I saw a small light in the corner of the pool...at the bottom. Was I drunk just from one cup? No..that couldn't be it. Right? I tried to swim near it but someone grabbed my body and pulled me up to the surface before I could get to reach it. I coughed and my wet hair covered my face. It was Kevin who pulled me out.
He was patting my back while I kept coughing. "Are you okay? It looked like you almost drowned! Can you even swim?" Kevin asked worried and panicky. Diana took over the Dj spot to play a list of her own songs. I looked at her shaking my head. "She took your spot.," I said to Kevin. "I don't really care about that right now. Why did she push you into the pool in the first place?" He asked. I shrugged still coughing from the water. He continues to pat my back. "Diana never lets a wallflower stay glued to the wall at her parties. I know that for a fact! But she didn't have to push you into the pool like this..." He says feeling bad. "..It's okay this is fun! And I think I'm a little tipsy from that drink!" I said sarcastically; I got up and started dancing like nothing ever happen. And the crowd started to dance with me. Kevin looked at me and laughed a little. Diana just stood at the booth staring at me.
It was 1:00 am and the party was ending. People starting to leave cause classes started soon. Diana was gone and Kevin was packing up his music equipment. I was sitting and drinking nonstop looking at that light in the corner of the pool. Kevin tapped my shoulder and started the wonder what I was looking it. "What are you pondering on? The waters dirty." He said.
"You don't see it?...the light in the corner?" I pointed. "...Jamie, I think you drank too much of that" He took my cup and I felt a bit sick. My body dropped itself into the pool."Not again! My clothes didn't even dry yet! Kavin removed his clothes quickly. "My arms manage to move and I touched the light....or thing..whatever that thing is. I examined it closely. It was a necklace...a shell necklace. I popped my head up and showed Kevin. He was about to dive in...underwear and all. I showed him the necklace Kevin was even more surprised that I managed to swim up to the surface on my own this time. "It must have been this that made the light," I said slowly. "That's so weird. That can't belong to Diana. Maybe someone in the crowd. I don't know much about Jewels." He says while he's putting back on his wet clothes. I looked at the shell and something felt weird about it but I wanted to keep it anyway. "You should wear it and maybe during class, the owner may come to take it back?" Kevin suggested. "It doesn't seem like anyone is coming back for it" I looked at the entrance. Kevin gave me his hand. "Come on I'll walk you to your Dorm"
