Chapter 2 - I hate fakers sequel
As soon as I exit the elevator, I feel somewhat relieved.
The great thing about staying in a hotel this grand, is the 24 hour service. Gotta love it!
Not wanting to waste any time, I make my way towards the reception counter.
Due to the late hour, there are no other guests in the lobby, although there are some leaving the restaurant and bar. Im so glad, I remembered to put clothes on, rather than walk around in my pyjamas.
"Good evening ma'am. How may I help you?" the concierge warmly greets me as I place my hands the counter. The concierge doesn't look that much older than me, and has short, cropped brown hair and brown eyes. He is handsome looking, but nothing compared to my Jayden.
I take a deep breath and blurt out in a desperate tone "I need help"
The concierge smiles genuinely and replies "That's what I am here for. What do you need?"
How best to explain? I decide to just blurt everything I know out, and let him decipher it for himself. He looks smart enough.
But first, I read his name badge and notice his name is Jason.
"Jason, my name is Alayna." I say extending my hand to introduce myself. My father always taught me to be polite.
Jason smiles at me and shakes my hand while saying "Nice to meet you Alayna."
I wave my hand dismissively and say "Please call me Ali."
Jason nods and then adds "Ok, Ali. You can call me Jace"
I smile and then take a deep breath before blurting out my request "There is this school I need to find, somewhere within a 50 mile radius of this hotel. I think."
"Ok, I was on a train this afternoon, and I was freezing my butt off because it was cold." I explain trying to give Jace the story from the beginning.
"These children had no scarves. Can you believe it?" I ask incredulously but don't give him a chance to respond when I continue.
"Anyway, I need the contact details for this school." I inform Jace as he starts writing on a notepad in front of him.
By now I have started pacing in front of the counter, so I come to a stop and turn to him and say in a critical tone "Scarves are not expensive. Its not like Im suggesting laptops or PDA's for every student. Just something to keep them warm."
I gasp when I remember something and start tapping on the counter "There was this teacher. Grumpy cow that she was..." I stop speaking as I drum my fingers impatiently trying to remember what her name was.
"Ah, that's it" I let out a relieved sigh as the memory comes back to me and then add "Grumpy teacher's name is Miss Watling"
What other information does Jace need to know?
"Oh right. They were wearing itchy looking black pants, white shirts and black woolen jumpers." I say and look up at Jace and he is still frantically taking notes.
"Ok" I add weakly "I know that isn't exactly helpful information, because alot of schools probably have that same uniform. But I did notice some sort of embroidery on the jumper."
Now what was it? I start rubbing my temples as I pace again trying to encourage the memories to flood back.
Im surprised that Jace hasn't spoken once, while I have ranted on and on. I guess its his job though.
Remember... Remember... Remember...
Dark blue scarf... Grumpy cow teacher... Cute little Troy... Tree...
