Our walk to the nearest café passed in a complete silence. When we did get to the café, I was first to break it. Sure some stupid prick and some crazy ass girl jeopardized my mood.
Okay, let's stop beating around the bush and say it as it was...some dumb f*ck and some crazy ass bitch jeopardized my mood.
There, much better.
Knowing in advance that this would be the last time I'd see any of them, brought me into a neutral state of being. I was neither furious nor calm. I suspect that I simply didn't really care...or thought that I didn't care.
"Theodor," I said sitting on the chair. "Please don't feel sorry for what happened. If to look at the things from my perspective it was hilarious." Plus, I gained two hundred extra dollars!
Ted walked around the table I chose and sat in front of me. "I'm sorry," he said in a stained with unease voice. "I really want to apologize on behalf of my friends. What they did was rude and unacceptable."
I rolled my eyes waving my hand dismissively. "Like I care!" I said and smiled watching Kevin taking a seat as well. "First of all, if I don't wear a wedding cake on my face doesn't mean I look like a guy. Second, and forgive me for saying this, but the girl sure was stupid. Who gives money to someone by just assuming things? I know I'm not dressed up for the occasion, but seriously..."
"Well, I'm glad that you take things lightly. I'm still very sorry..." Theodor kept apologizing, but I cut him off.
"Enough. Really. I get it," I said a bit harshly. "Let's talk about something else," I offered.
"You are right," he sighed. "How is your first year in college going so far?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't do parties. Never liked them. So I just work and study."
Theodor nodded. "That's why you never went to parties during High School?" he asked a smile forming on his face. Kevin seemed to get over whatever he was worried about and focused his attention on the conversation.
"Partially," I replied. "I don't hate parties...It's just more complicated than that." I sighed. "You know the theory of a middle child?" I asked eyeing both guys. They both affirmed with a nod, and I continued. I don't now why I wanted to talk about it, but for some reasons I couldn't stop myself. "Well, I have two brothers and a sister. Kristen and Kyle are older than me. Ben is the youngest. So my parents focused their prime attention on my older sister because she is the firstborn and on Kyle because he is the favorite child from the four of us. And because Ben is the youngest, they had no choice but care for him. And I was always that tug along middle kid that both of my parents seemed to disregard." I stopped and smiled. "I mean I always wanted to be a good daughter. Kristen always got in troubles for sneaking out, and Kyle is an athlete, so he was also closely watched. I tried to rebel several times, but it was of no use."
A waitress interrupted us, and after we had placed an order, the silence hung thick around our table. Clearly, my forwardness was more than the guys bargained for. I wasn't the type of person to hold back, anyway.
I sighed watching Kevin. He had a stunning face with a dash of freckles scattered on his nose. His eyes were icy blue and incredibly warm for such a fresh color. His lips were traced and very pronounced, seeming almost red under a yellow light of the café. I smiled at him and instantly he returned a smile. That gave him some easiness. He leaned on the table with his elbows and visibly relaxed.
"Well, let's hear all about your rebel attempts. I seriously doubt that you could do something drastic. The biggest you'd do would be to sneak out to some party," Kevin grinned.
