Dear, Albert,
If it’s possible to gain ten pound in one meal, I did it. After Mama Riri’s dinner, I don’t think my stomach felt any hunger for the next five days. AND…I think that I’m still in shock of the past events. As much as I wanted to get over the idea of me having some gangsters on a side as friends, I couldn’t.
I’m a wallflower.
I’ve never committed a crime in my entire life. I didn’t even have a traffic ticket for speed or parking violation. Let alone shoplifting or drugs consuming. Once, I went produce shopping and forgot to pay for a chowing gum. You say it’s only dollar ninety-nine, but I say it’s a guilt trip. When I realized that I forgot to pay, I went back and paid those skimpy two dollars, leaving one cent as a tip for inconveniences. So you see where I’m going with this…Anyhow, Bobo became my secret friend. THAT’S a power of food sharing. In a full mode of conspiracy, I’ve transferred him my last five pieces of food during dinner. I think it was a slice of pie, a chicken wing, another part of chicken, some dinner rolls and my share of corn. In his books, I became his idol. In my books, he became my savior. With his impressive height, he could afford those extra few things. Besides, mama Riri was happy that I finished all my eight dishes. As she said - a girl with a good appetite is a satisfied girl. Whatever that means.
Anyways, when I finally rolled into the sanctuary of my house, I vowed to never ever cross the path of the guys. Uh-uh! I was too cautious for these types of connections.
Yours forever,
Marie Belle.
“Just don’t freak out or anything,” I warned Ted. As usually, my dear family decided that I was too grown up to be picked up from the airport. And maybe because they picked up about a dozen of guests that have arrived only an hour prior me. That was why Ted and I took a taxi to get to my house. “If you want, you can go to see your family. I’d understand if you want to go to see them right away. We can meet tomorrow in the church. I can even pick you up,” I smiled glancing at Ted sideways.
“It’s fine. The house is empty anyway. My parents are in Europe on a business trip, and my sister is on vacations with her friends somewhere in Mexico,” he replied casually.
I snorted. “And you’re stuck here with me and my crazy ass family.”
“Oh, come on. They aren’t that bad. Besides, every family has its quirks.”
“That might be true, but as it seems to me, mine is one of the worst. My mom most probably will spent the entire party running around my sister like a headless chicken, fixing her gown every five seconds of her time. My dad might go out in the middle of the party to play a ball outside with my older brother. I’ve stopped wondering ten years ago about such tradition when realized that it’s better this, than to listen for several hours straight the stories of my brother’s best games of a season. Even the most devoted fans would get bored.” I wiggled my brows meaningfully. “And my sister, most probably, will do her best to remind everyone that it is her wedding party. So, just be prepared for the most annoying time of your life.”
