Chapter 1 | The Night Before The Wedding

- Abigail's POV -

I can't believe I'm getting married tomorrow. This past year has been and gone so quickly, a bit too quickly if I do say so myself.

About a year and a bit ago I remember Riker proposing to me. He was so nervous, bless him. When he said: "I don't think us being in a relationship is working out," I honestly thought he was going to break up with me. Then he got on one knee and proposed. I was completely over whelmed; it was so unexpected.

I laugh to myself remembering that night.

Then I remember when we both had to tell the family. We were both nervous then. I didn't know what my parents would say, you know, after the whole car accident drama. But they were fine with it.

- Flashback -

Yesterday Riker had proposed to me and we haven't told anyone yet. I was bursting to tell Rydel but Riker wouldn't let me. I tried persuading him but he wouldn't budge.

We are at the park and we are just lying down on a blanket looking up at the sky.

"So," I start, "When are we telling everyone because I am bursting to tell someone!"

Riker laughs, "You can ring them up and see if they could all meet us for lunch?"

"Great idea! I'll quickly call them!"

I got my phone out of my bag and rang up Mum first.

"Hello?" Mum answers.

"Hi Mum, it's Abby, could you and dad meet Riker and I at the park? We've made a picnic for everyone and we'd like you to come join us."

"Yeah sure, okay, we'll see you in a bit."

"Okay and we've also got some news."

"Well now I'm even more excited." She says then hangs up without saying goodbye. That's nice! Aha!

I then called Stormie and basically said the same thing.

After a few minutes they arrive at the park and sit around the picnic blanket.

Riker looks at me and whispers, "Don't be nervous!" I nod in reply.

Rydel gasps quite loudly while pointing at my finger. She takes my hand and says, "Oooh! What's this?"

"That's why we called you all down here to talk about..." Riker said with a smile, "I proposed to Abby last night and she sai-"

"Yes!" Rydel interrupts, "Oh my gosh! I'm so happy for you two!"

"Stormie, are you okay?" I ask while handing Stormie a tissue; she was tearing up.

"I just couldn't have asked for a better daughter-in-law." She says wrapping her arms around me. She lets go after 6-7 seconds.

"Mum... Dad, you're being a bit quiet."

"We're just speechless." Dad replies.

"A good speechless or a bad speechless?" Riker asks.

"A good one of course! My daughters marrying a great guy!" He says taking out a tissue and blowing his nose.

Everyone then tucks into the picnic, after saying congratulations, while we eat we talk about the wedding, when it will be, what we will wear, etc...

I'm so happy everyone took it well.

- End of Flashback -

I can still remember that day so clearly. After the picnic I went for a walk with Rydel and asked her to be my bridesmaid. She literally screamed so loud I thought I had lost my hearing.

"We have to go dress shopping!" I remember her saying.

That day was probably one of the best days of my life. Seeing everyone so happy about the engagement.

We had a little engagement dinner that night which Stormie and my Mum made. It was delicious. They served fajitas for the main and for dessert a heavenly chocolate fudge cake. I'm hoping they'll make one like that for tomorrow. I've asked but I have said if they don't have much time then done worry.

Anyway, I think it's time for me to get some sleep. It's the big day tomorrow! I'm a tad nervous but other than that super excited.

I quickly change into my pyjamas and tuck myself into my bed. Alone. Riker and I thought it would be bad luck if we saw each other before the wedding so we're both in different houses; in different beds.

I close my eyes and before I know it I'm passed out on my bed.
