Chapter 11 | Just When We Thought Everything Was Okay Again.

- Riker's POV -

"Mum, what is it? I'm beginning to panic right now." I tell Mum as quiet as I can as Abby is asleep.

"It's Ellie."

Once I heard her name my mood dropped.

I looked back at Abby fast asleep.

A tear rolled down my cheek.

"W-w-what's happened to Ellie?" I stutter.

"When I went to change her diaper she had blood in it and the last time I fed her... She vomited and blood was in it."

I'm literally shaking.

"Where are you now?" I ask.

"At the east of London hospital. Ellie's having some tests done."

"I'll be there right away. Just let me leave a note for Abby."

I quickly grab a pen and a piece of tissue as there are no pieces of paper around and I left a note for Abby.

'Abby,

I've gone to the east of London hospital as something has come up. It's about Ellie. Don't panic, I'm sure she'll be okay, she's strong just like her Mum. If you want to meet us at the hospital when you wake up, feel free, but I don't want you to miss out on catching up with your friends. Just let me know what you choose to do - call it text me.

With that note rushed I make my way to the hospital.

Ellie's still having tests done. My heads laying on Mums shoulder.

What's going to happen to my baby? I'm so scared.

"Hey dude." I look up to see Ross.

"Hey." I reply.

"She'll be oka-"

"That's what everyone says. Why can't I have a stress free life." I sigh.

"Life's never going to be perfect."

"I know." I put my head in my hands.

"Um, Mr Lynch?"

All our heads look up to see a doctor.

"Is she okay? She's my daughter. I'm Riker by the way." I say and shake his hand.

"Do you want to step into my office, I'll need to talk to you about what's gone on and what's going to happen." I nod.

"Mum," I start, "Can you come in with me? I don't want to do this alone."

"Of course I will sweetie."

We both step into his office and take a seat.

"After many tests we have come to know that your daughter has... um... cancer. I'm sorry, sir."

"No no no! She can't! She's too young! The tests are wrong!"

"I'm sorry, sir. We make sure to do our tests thoroughly and 100% accurately. We can assure you there's nothing wrong with the tests."

"Abby, my wife, is going to be heartbroken. We've honestly been through enough this past year. We were just getting back to the way things were."

"I'm sor-"

"STOP SAYING SORRY!" I shout.

"Sorry." I say quieter, "I think I need to ring her up. Please excuse me for a moment." I say standing up and leaving the room.

As I run to the front of the building, I bump into someone I look at them and see its Abby. She has tears in her eyes. I hug her, putting one hand on the back of her head and my other hand is rubbing her back. We stay like this for a while before she speaks up.

"So... um... w-what's wrong with her?" She asks.

I wipe her tears away with my thumb.

"S-s-she... has..." I can't do this.

"Riker?"

I look at Abby in the eyes.

"Just say it. Whatever it is we can get through it together. As a family." She smiles.

I take a deep breath. She takes both of my hands and holds them together.

"Ellie has... c-c-cancer."

Abby falls to the ground and she starts crying harder than before.

"It's too early. She's only six months old. How could this happen? everything was going well." I sit by her side and cradle her.

"Well get through this, together. Just like you said. Ellie's strong, like you." I say.

This will take a little time to adjust to. But I know we'll get through it.

So I guess I've created a little drama.

I now feel sad for what I've done to the story >.<

And also sorry for not updating in a while. I need to catch up with homework for school I had during summer :)
