There's an inaudible knock on the door as I take one earphone out of my ear; after listening to Niall Horan's Flicker album. God, it's the best album I've ever heard.

"Who is it?" I call.

"Mr Wembley," The voice replies. I was actually kind of disappointed that it wasn't Ethan— but, whatever.

I sit up straight and pat the edges of my bed even though they're perfectly plain. "Come in,"

"Hello," He greets, closing the door behind him. "Do you mind if I—" He points towards the bed awkwardly. I can tell talking to a young girl isn't his forte.
"How is school going?" He randomly asks.

"Pretty well, Sir—" I start.

"Oh please, don't call me that. I feel like I'm your boss or something but we're friends now," His suggestion comes out more cringy than welcoming but at least he's trying.

"Oh okay, sorry. School is quite... interesting." I comment, letting out an accidental heavy giggle. I'm so awkward.

"I guess interesting is one word to describe it." He coughs, trying to disguise his laughter. "I know Ethan hasn't been present this week but I just wanted to apologise. He's such a rebellious character. His friends and him only stole the bike for a little fun," His friends and him?
"I know that's not an excuse but I don't know what got into his head. He's going through a rough time," He continues.

"Sir, it's fine, really." I smile innocently and sympathetically. He's always so worried about his son.

"Well, come down for dinner please. We're all eating together tonight," He says.

"That'd be wonderful," I whisper, nodding.

The doorbell suddenly rings and we both automatically look at the door of my room... I'm not exactly keen on why.

"Oh wow, um... What a surprise?" Mrs Wembley's voice can be heard in the background. She sounds innocently fake. "Amelia," Her calling my name immediately flashes me back into reality. "Someone's here to see you, they even brought flowers," She calls excitedly but nervously.

I rush downstairs behind Mr Wembley.

"Hey Baby," Hugh greets.
