Title: Dilseachd - A Forgotten Crown

Author: CelticWarriorQueen17

Synopsis:

It was called a time of darkness. For it was then that the flower of Scotland's men had perished beneath the Danish axe as the Northmen swept across the Highlands, killing everything in their path. The Lowlanders and Highlanders afterwards fought wars among themselves, dividing the country in half and destroying the last ties of loyalty that still bound them together. The Danes, taking advantage over this disunity, took over Scotland and now rule the land, the last remaining heir to the Scottish throne imprisoned and soon to be murdered.

Six years after the fateful battle that was fought in vain to keep out the Danes and the War of Division that happened after, across the Lowlands, waves of change are rippling. The Lowlanders, enervated and groaning under the Danish yoke, seek to reunite and overthrow the Danes.

Yet it will not be easy. Spies are everywhere and, not only that, many of the Scots cannot be trusted. Where do their true loyalties lie? Will they become traitors? Once, they could be trusted. But that was long ago, when they were free... Before the Danes came. Can they be trusted now? Or does their loyalty, dìlseachd, no longer have any meaning to them?

Only time will tell whether the Scots are faithful to the true heir as they fight in an attempt to overthrow the Danes, rescue the heir, and restore her to her throne; restore to her a crown that is almost forgotten.

Judge's comments:

Author tells this story so well. I felt a connection to the characters from the start. The title is a bit hard to understand unless you speak or know the Scottish/Gaelic language. Other than that, this story rocked!
